  1. Add scrabble to that, mine fell out of cupboard whilst motor sailing....cupboard was over the engine.. Scrabble tiles hurt when they fall thru alternator drive.
  2. A blown turbo can't cause an engine to shutdown. Ok at idle you say, runs rough when you apply power, leading to a motor stall? Presumably box in neutral?. Odd on its fuel related, either you not getting enough air in, or fuel in. Is it the same hot or cold? The last time I encountered this problem, in was fuel filter relaleted, and that was less than three hours running afterwards. We had a mixture of the bug, and condensate in the tank. This got churned up whilst motorsailing with an angle of lean on.

  6. Good stuff that. Used it a couple of times on combine harvestor exhausts, the engines are running at 2000rpm for twelve or more hours a day
  7. It's all very simple, keep on trucking, get fuel/water delivered by fuel boat. Loo, has to be bucket and chuck it... Ok gang is he allowed to stop whilst waiting for lock, or bridge?
  8. Swap your dogs for mine, a brace of black and white border collies, they don't like water overmuch either. Well from the people what know the hull is not very well made, but that interior is to die for. Complete contrast to typical interior. It's just a breath of fresh air.
  9. If of course you invert the hull, you will have the same effect. Mind I suspect the fans will stall
  10. That is a slight mod on the theme of a leak down tester. Much more dramatic though, and quicker than pumping up for leakdown test.

  13. I use a chain wrench don't know if it would provide better purchase. Mind I don't often come upon one that tightly fixed. Don't use the screwdriver trick, it will immobilise you ,
  14. Tim, could you photo the original preferably in situ. I'm sure I've seen something similar in our truck mechanics sheds Oops you have since added piccies What's the shaft diameters? I know we're I have seen that arrangement, cotton mills the shaft works which distribute power around.
  15. It's a pity I'm stuck in the north, I have both compression tester, and leak down tester. Checked with our forklift fitter, yes you forklift has a k4 engine, he says is a very common block. Most common faults is a crack occurring across pots 2 and 3 usually causes compression problems, usually but not exclusively accompanied by water in oil. This is a fussy engine, injectors need to have an even spray pattern, and heaters need to work. I note both forklifts we have have bloody great batteries. I'll try and find out what the CCA is.
  16. I think it's to do with the lack of a double skinned hull. I agree though it's a shame. But this regulation has been on the books for years. I'll bet our neighbours have complied years ago. As usual lack of investment on our part. Typical of the Brits. But I guess I don't want a million litres of oil in the water.
  17. Quick test, you want a good stout spanner that will fit on crankshaft pulley. Turn the engine over be hand. For every revolution there are two compression peaks. Do they occur? btw you need to do this for two revolutions, you should get four in total, ideally each requiring the same force to overcome.
  18. I was reading this thread while sitting on a forklift. Mitsubishi. Blue in colour. I suspect the engine in question might be based upon an industrial unit. That being the case, one of the local forklift agents near you might be a possible way forward

  20. He here here well said John. It is a lot of work though. Now I would cheerfully support your cause should you be so minded, I know though you have other commitments which may well preclude this.

  22. I don't agree, sorry Dean, I think he is far to nice for such a political role
  23. The only way to cure this problem is underfloor heating?
