  1. 36kg pull neodymium magnets, 4 per panel, hold perfectly well with the panel flat even in 90mph winds. I get a bit nervous if the panels are tilted when wind speeds are 30mph gusting to 50 mph according to weather forecasts & after storms, however they simply haven't moved. If I did it again I would get 72kg pull magnets so as not to worry about windy conditions, but with that said I leave them flat now anyway.
  2. I've heard the BBC call Cogenhoe cog-en-hoe, but as everybody knows it's pronounced cook-no, & it's annoying when they keep calling the river 'Neen' when everybody (except the weirdos from Peterborough ) knows it's pronounced nen. As for the farmers moorings above the lock at Cogenhoe I believe you are supposed to go into the caravan park opposite & let them know you are staying there. & here's the obligatory Fotheringhay shot (dont blame me Scholar Gypsy started it)
  3. Thanks for this list. Just thought I'd mention Overton lake just before Peterborough. For the record the last time I checked the B&Q mooring in Northampton is blocked by a fallen tree, 2 boats are stuck behind it, & as it's not on the navigation it doesnt look like it will get cleared any time soon.
  4. Billing's a bit of a bugger to get into going downstream. It's all easy though, just take it easy. Leaving Billing & going upstream.
  5. Of course the problem I have now, is 2 mountain bikes, but only room for 1!
  6. Stolen bike recovered after 11 years! That's right, in 2005 my dream mountain bike got nicked, I was gutted Last Sunday I spotted it on Ebay, got in touch with the police, & Wednesday they just gave me my pushbike back, a Giant ATX1000 with Marzocchi bomber air forks. Everything was still the same, all they did was add a bell & a speedo, & then didnt use it, it's been sat in a very dry shed for years on end.
  7. So you've swapped 400W of solar for 610W of solar. 400W wasnt enough to meet your needs, & it would seem 610W is enough. It doesnt really matter what panels they are, 100W is 100W, a more efficient panel means a smaller panel for the same 100W. Different types of panel maybe more or less efficient in low light vs direct sunlight (poly vs mono), & seeing as we are often cloudy here it would probably be better to get the low light version (poly) but these are usually less (peak) efficient than the mono type, meaning larger panels for the same wattage... but of course we are limited by roof space on a NB It does sound like you have got the most efficient mono panels currently available. Size wise (assuming I've found the correct ones), yours (305W) vs mine (165W) L - 1640 - 1590 W - 1000 - 790 So not much bigger for almost double the watts. What was the price of the panels?

  9. I totally know what you mean. Trying to find an external antenna to connect to my E5573, thought I'd ask Huawei themselves to recommend 1. Useless answer from them!
  10. Here's a good article explaining external antennas. http://www.solwise.co.uk/learningcentre/antenna-considerations-for-4glte/comment-page-1/
  11. Funnily enough I've had a few of these types of MiFi unit. I've seen lots of talk of external antennas, but never seen one with a socket to take 1. Yet I've just noticed a a bit on my current 1 (E5573 S 320 from 3) & it has what can only be an external antenna socket. How come I've never noticed this before... Gonna check my older ones as well. FWIW I dont have a problem with signal, I have mine stuck to the inside of the window frame using velcro.
  12. My numbers, not measured accurately. 330Ah battery bank, gives me enough electric for 12 hours without worrying too much, ie overnight starting 8pm 12V fridge freezer always on, 12V TV on for 6 hours, 240V desktop pc + 2 monitors for 6 or 7 hours (so inverter on), 12V led lights etc.. phones/laptops/tablets/other stuff charging (Basically I want 2 more batteries to bring it up to 550Ah minimum) 660W Solar, on the 18th Dec on a completely cloudless day & tilted to the sun (but no tracking, my mooring faces south west), gave me enough electric to run my 12V chest height fridge freezer for 8 hours. My fridge freezer seems to use 6-7 amps, & is always on in that it turns off but goes straight back on (maybe its old needs regassing has a leaky seal whatever). The most I've seen my set up put out is 48Amps. My dehumidifier on laundry setting will pull 70amps from the 12V DC side.
  13. Originally I was on the One Plan sim only, which as we know gave unlimited data including unlimited tethering (even if it was throttled). I didnt have to worry about going over my allowance or running out of internet. & so I used it in the manner it was advertised. (my biggest month was Dec 2014 when I used 208Gb most of it tethered). But they stopped my contract in May 2015 & moved me on to a new AYCE data plan, with limited tethering of 4Gb (no matter how much I had used on the phone). & charged me an extra £30 per month for the privilege. So I ended up getting a MiFi dongle as well ('cuz 4Gb aint enough) for £16pm for 15Gb. I'm constantly hitting the MiFi limit (even being careful to make sure I did as much as I could on my phone) & then have to revert to the marinas WiFi which is incredibly slow. When they bought the 12Gb tethering limit in it seems it only applied to new contracts, so I was still stuck with 4Gb tethering limit. Yesterday, having used up all my MiFi data, I tried to tether my phone (having not tethered for over 6 weeks) fully expecting to have 4Gb available, but it said I had used up all my allowance. A bit miffed (because I hadnt) I was going through their website when I discovered this new 30Gb tethering. Apparently the 1st 30Gb of your unlimited data (whether you have used it on your phone or tethered to another device) can be used for tethering, but after that you cant tether. Well it turns out I had used 32Gb data on my phone, so now I have no tethering for the next 25 days, & no MiFi either. I'm stuck with using the marinas incredibly slow WiFi. I wish they had told me about the change. I can change my usage again & go back to doing stuff on my computer tethered, & once I've used it all I can switch to my MiFi. Still I'm glad they have done this. It didnt specify if it applies to new contracts only, it said all of their AYCE data plans have this 30Gb tethering, so peeps on existing contracts should be good to go. I could be wrong though, they recently changed my contract price, having only had 25 hours work from my zero hours contract since January, 3 agreed to change my price plan to £32pm (instead of £49), but dropped my mins from 400 to 100 (which I'm ok with seeing as I rarely make phone calls & I only had that original plan in order to get data, didnt want the mins or texts in the 1st place). & for the record it isnt a new contract (still finishes May next year), just a lower price & less minutes.

  15. No they dont, they say We already put the sort code on all of our Debit Cards, starting 1 or 8 - it's the six-digit number at the bottom on the right-hand side of the card https://www.rbs-communities.co.uk/t5/Ideas-Bank/Sort-code-on-debit-cards/idi-p/1481 However, the cards that I could find pictures of I couldnt see a sort code!
  16. lol at that log still being there. When I went up the arm (18th March) it was overflowing with water until lock 7. The pound between lock 7 & 6 was empty, then the pound between lock 5 & 4 was nearly empty, & so was the pound between lock 3 & lock 2. I got grounded going in to lock 2. No paddles had been left open.
