  1. And are there some who have gone single and come back with a partner?
  2. But what about the individual threatening to destroy everywhere if they don't get their powers back? ETA Pelsall sounds good, BTW

  4. And look out for the heron when you go under the M5. There has always been one perched on the side when we've been that way. It looks really out of place amongst all that concrete!

  6. Ours is known as the chortling bog monster Back to the OP....... TWELVE in one boat That would be a lot of cassettes to empty.
  7. I was single handing up the Wolverhampton flight last month and towards the top I was aware that there was a woman a lock or two behind setting the locks for her boat. She caught up with me at the top lock and we chatted, as you do, as 'Red Wharf' rose in the lock. When the lock was full I opened the top gate and started to take the boat out I was aware things weren't right. 'Why has my boat stopped moving?' I thought, and 'Why is all this water rushing past me?'. I looked round to see she had opened a paddle in the bottom gate! I shouted at her to close it and she looked at me with a 'This person is obviously shouting at me but I can't see why' look on her face and then proceeded to cross the gate and start to open the other paddle . The penny dropped following more and LOUDER shouting on my part. In fairness to her I think it was their first trip out in the boat, moving it from Great Heywood to Droitwich, and it is easy to get into a rythym when setting locks and stop thinking about what you are doing. But thinking things through if the top pound was a short one with the water level low this could have resulted with RW being stuck on the cill. Nasty. As it was I think she just, inadvertently, wanted to drain the Wolverhampton level . SAM Ryde IOW

  12. A pedant writes: Shouldn't that be Wharves ? A beer geek adds: Sod the food! Whats the beer for saturday? Also: Do we need to think about Tawny and Red Wharf breasting up for extra kitchen capacity? SAM Currently in Lem Spa.
  13. But what if it starts up between 20:00 and 08:00?

  19. An update. God bless those nice people at Norbury Wharf. There were two problems which may, or may not, have been related. The breather pipe was blocked with <use your imagination and insert word of choice>. This would explain the dull booming sounds, trapped pressure being released etc and, assuming the red/green LED is worked by a pressure switch, the constant(ish) red LED. Add to that the breather elbow on the tank had rusted through. Iron fittings are, apparently, not the norm on PO tanks, plastic being more usual. Is a PO tank a corossive environment for ferrous fittings? The tank itself is made from stainless. What do y'all reckon team? Independent events or are they related? Either way it's nice to have our old boat back, meaning one that no longer smellsl like an elsan tip! SAM Using the WiFi (and jolly good it is too!) in The Boat, Brewood. Apologies, the pub is The Bridge, not The Boat.

  21. Speckled Hen and Bombardier should never be used in the same sentence as the word 'good' unless used in conjunction with the word 'not'. SAM Ditto Hobgoblin. These beers are available from one end of the country to the other and are boring, boring, BORING. What about locally brewed stuff? About the only good thing CAMRA have done in recent years is the Locale beer scheme. SAM Self confessed beer geek (and proud of it!)
