Does anyone on here have any knowledge about free transit licences from Teddington to the River Wey.
5 years ago, when I was on the Wey, a boat owning lock keeper told me that EA did have such a licence but didn't let on unless pressed. A friend of mine asked EA yesterday and was told "don't know anything about them" and was then quoted the usual licence options, ie. 1 day, 15 days etc.
Any info would be appreciated
Silencers, what are they? I havn't got one fitted to my 8 litre twin diesel. At tickover it just emits a gentle waft of exhaust gas and at cruising revs ( 280 rpm !!) it makes a lovely "kler-donk, kler donk" sort of thing.
Ernie, sounds like you met the proprieter in the office ( TC)
I moored there for a couple of winters but got so miffed with his attitude (looking down his nose at you etc.) that I vowed never to go back there.
Whenever I'm asked where I moor, I always say Braunston, and then add the rider "but not in the marina"
The scouts who were manning the car park were pushing cars into the parking field
I had a moan and so got parked up right beside the temporary road
Left at about 2.30pm but I imagine it must have been chaos later.
BTW, at 10.00am it took us 45mins from the M1 to the site (½ mile?)
In our case it is nothing to do with charging. We don't even do pump outs. It is because we only have a cess pit which would fill up considerably quicker if self pump out were allowed.
BTW it costs us £140 to have it emptied
Now I think that they look really naff, but, as they say "beauty is in the eye......."
We have 2 houdinis and one is over the bed with no probs. In the winter, at night, when it is not open, we have a large foam filled bung that pushes into it. Sorted!!
I agree with Canal Shop Man. It sounds like a Mansfield Traveller (Not sure that they are still called that though). They are/were almost the industry standard. I've had them my own trip boats, hire boats, my personal boat (years ago) and the ball valve/seal does eventually give up sealing, thus allowing pongs to arise from the tank. My experience is that fitting a new seal (easy peasy in theory )usually cures the problem. Better still, do away with it and get a Porta Potti for much the same price as the repair bits
You can download a JP manual (plus loads of others) from here http://www.internalfire.com/index.php
You will have to register first, but it is well worth it
BTW, they now charge a one off fee of a tenner to download

A couple of years ago I did a Google search for Amway. I found loads of forums for disgruntled Amway agents who, I presume, thought that an Amway agency was the road to a furtune (but then wised up!).
What I didn't find was anyone selling their products. Fortunatly, I eventually had a friend who had a friend etc etc and managed to buy 3 tubes of it. I presume that it is still out there somewhere.
April 1st - yeah right
For years I've been using Amway Metal Polish for really tarnished brass. It still needs buffing with Brasso after to give a depth of shine, but its ability to remove months, even years, of crud is outstanding. Amway sell through agents so you will have to source one near you, but I promise you won't be dissapointed.
Just spotted the title to this thread. Bye
