That was me , KINGFISHER NARROWBOATS LTD (getting a plug in) how funny that would of been seeing blue flashing lights coming down the tow path .i think it would have scared me to death especially as we,d been chatting about the holly thread over lunch. we were doing a part fitout on a customers boat that had its paint job brought forward to this weekend by mcc boats, it was agreed that we would do most of the work at willington we had virtually every tool out of the workshop .and set up right next to the boat .thankfully it was sunny all week or the schedule would of gone out of the window! but it was fantastic chatting to dozens of boaters all week it amazes me how much we actually got done and getting enquirys for loads more work(there must be a shortage of boat fitters)and there was three sometimes four people working on board all in our own little bit . and a big hi to any of you who stopped and chatted and to those who sailed on by making us all jealous and great news holly was found and that it wont be long before shes back at work john
  2. has anyone had one built recently just had a quote for 850 plus vat,and nearly fell off my chair or is that about right any thoughts anyone

  7. Whale gulper for me as well ,and deffinatley go to limekiln no nonsense prices and a discount scheme for self builders ,good luck with the sailaway its great fun but allow twice aslong as you think for doing the simplest jobs and buy the very best holesaws for the steel !!!!!!!

  11. In the end i went to lime kiln ,and had standard fittings .so now i,m setting up a narrow boat curtain pole with nice finials supply company i reckon i,ll be rich in a few months time
  12. Right its of to ikea for a hot dog or 2 !!! and i,ll have a look at the poles ,but i no what you mean about them being to deep i,ll see how they look and how easy it will be to alter the brackets cheers
  13. hi, can any one tell me where to get polished brass curtain poles from with finials ,i,m cant find any one who sells them .Google brings up domestic ones but nothing suitable for a narrow boat.what do you guys use ? thanks r s s
