  1. Post Number 6, if it's really that important to you. Btw, I didn't claim that the word 'idiot' had been used, but that's the level of contempt that I detect in the OP for we unbelievers
  2. And the Remain argument is full of certainties, is it? Bless!
  3. You don't help your argument by portraying those of us planning to vote for exit as uninformed, ignorant - your word - idiots. I've been a boater for twenty-odd years, but there is more at stake here than our lifestyle .

    Flies

    Move a coupe of miles?
  5. How do they work? Is it just a question of dropping one in whilst the stove is lit? The packet is all in German!
  6. They were the first people I asked! Waiting for a reply to my recorded message.
  7. Does anyone know what the length of S2 pontoon is please - not sure if my 62 footer will fit comfortably - thanks
  8. The key, surely, is the weather. Our Bristol Channel pilot made us wait until the forecast was for Force 3 or less. Would the English Channel be any worse in the right weather conditions?
  9. Balderdash! Many of us have made the trip up the Bristol Channel from Portishead to Sharpness. When we did the run (with a pilot I hasten to add) it felt very much like being at sea!
  10. What on earth is wrong with walkie-talkies? We're both getting on a bit, and on a lock flight and out of sight of my wife, who is steering the boat, they are invaluable. Those who sneer at them are probably the same people who hanker after a traditional narrowboat, but think nothing of using on-board wifi, telly, washing machine - all things that the old boaters would grab with both hands, had they been available in their day.
  11. All good advice, I'm sure, but is it really couched in terms that a novice can understand? 'Under ebb' 'Hull HW' 'Lock tail' 'Bottom of Neaps'? I've done this run a few times in both directions, so I know what you mean by these things, but this guy is clearly a beginner
  12. Not to mention Stratford upon Avon, where Japanese tourists think your boat is fair game.
  13. There are a couple on the Chirk Aqueduct
  14. What is the current limit of navigation on the Monty please?
  15. All the way up to Llangollen - so far. Loads of felling going on, with short logs conveniently stacked for the taking
  16. Our 3kw Sterling inverter is too noisy to run at night. However, I believe that our 12v Shoreline fridge-freezer is rated at around 25 amp hours per day - more when the weather is stinking hot, obviously
  17. It's called a dunny, dummy!
  18. I dropped one once in one of the Bosley locks. You know the O2 advert where the bubbles are rising up ................................
  19. Red face here! Sorry, I've never looked at For Sale and Wanted, and never knew it existed. Thanks for moving my post to where it belonged.
  20. I am offering, free of charge, a number of pairs of very good quality lined curtains. Why has my posting been removed from these forums?
  21. We always moor on the loop near the Sea Life - always quiet and there are a couple of security cameras handy

    Voltmeter

Fit one of these and never look back! Gives you the amps/volts output of each alternator, plus a running count of amp/hours expended
  23. I'm more irritated by the incorrect use of 'you're' 'You're' is a contraction of 'you' and 'are', as in you're welcome, or you're one of the best 'Your' indicates possession, as in your wife or YOUR ENGINE!
