:) As much as I hate to ask ( its like admitting defeat in a way to me :( but needs must so here we go ...

I have the following : New to me :

Cooker & Sink,

Thetford cassette toilet ,

Brand New( cheers Ebay auctions ) Fridge/Freezer,

The plastic tubing to go ontop of my floor before I put back the concrete jicsaw pieces blink.png ,

To be ordered but accounted for Celotex boarding Insulation,

What I still need :

Batten Wood ( not sure how much as not worked it out yet unsure.png

The interior wood lining sheets are in hand ( shes says fingers and eyes crossed ),

Bestest places to buy Shower and Tray and enclosure.

I need to get the boat insulated and lined out as soon as poss so that I can move onboard and carry on with the fit out.

I know some of you will be going 'tut! tut! tree, best to fit it out before you move aboard... but the thing is the caravan is really comfy and after a hard days graft, and me ending up like Albert Steptoe and Compo all in one go, it will be too easy for me to have a shower and say ' stuff it your 53 adn 3/4 thats enough for today, time to chill with a dvd', and I really cannot do that as I need to get on with it, because the sooner that I get her finished the sooner I can boating and relax a lickle.

So any advice is greatly appreciated

curtseys and smiles thank you all kindly

Try Bonham lilley timber in wellingborough, 01933 274499. We use them at work now and again, they have a couple of wagons that covers the county day in day out. If you ask they may well deliver to you.

Try white arches caravans in rushden for your shower tray, they had some nice ones in there last time I looked

We got an excellent deal on a Mira shower for home direct from their web site, it was a clearance discontinued model and cost around £50.

The Mira shower tray was around £100 Supplied by our plumber but it needed a riser kit which you shouldn't need on a boat so say £75 and better quality than the equivalent B&Q one. The enclosure was around £200 and that was from B&Q but it was a fancy bi-fold door one, they have single non folding door ones for less.

You could try Belgrade insulation in wellingborough for your cellotex. 01933 222205. I used them for my transit van when I lined that out.

Again they may deliver if you ask.

And that in it's self is the reason you should stay in the caravan. I have for many years done many different jobs, on many many occasions I have gone for cheap lodgings and or slept on site to save money. At the end of the day though, if you don't get good quality rest you'll not perform any way near as well as you would if you do.

I've also spent longer periods working on the boat in the early days with just a mattress rudimentary cooking devices sleeping in sawdust and constant chemical smells in the cold and damp dirt & grime.

Stay in the caravan, relax get a good nights sleep, you'll get much more done the next day and with a clear head. Boat fitting out isn't just graft, you need to think and then think some more or you'll end up making cock ups that will cause you even more wasted time & money.

Meant to say, for general materials get a Screwfix account. Next day delivery and decent prices, a trade account will give you even more discount and up to 60 days credit. Stay well clear of DIY stores.

Hi Tree :)

Sounds like you are having fun :)

I ordered so much on Ebay...it saved me having to drive back and forwards...you can waste sooooo much time running back for a bolt and nut.....and then some screws.....and then some sandpaper....and then some....etc.

Try dedicate one day to a specific target, and get it done. If you read my blog you'll see that I kind of did that......although I installed enough to get living on the boat...the plumbing, the heating, the flooring, the beds etc. When you finally move all your "stuff" aboard it becomes very hard to carry on doing even small jobs, and your productivity drops to almost nothing. :)

:) yep ebay is such a help, just glad that the grotty jobs are almost done :) what I have planned to do ( good old TA days :) is to just have sleeping stuff and tools as I have got a storage container that will house the rest of my stuff and lucky for me the farm moorings have a hot shower and toilet so that was essential to me, regarding moving out of the caravan. Like you I have an action plan and everything has its slot, i do account for the *uggerance factor ' lol. I am very methodical believe it or not lol and I run things in a military fashion always have, as it works well for me. But once again I have taken your advice onboard thanks :)

Being a local lad has its advantages sometimes!

:) it does indeed .. that old saying 'its not what you know, but WHO you know rings true :) dilema for me is that I have only been here a few weeks and have not got to discover the best places, but with help from members on here and moi 'mooching ' about I soon will. Thanks your a pal :)

I've always found Limekiln Chandlers to very competitive.

Try B&Q for showers - they do some with short doors, there's always a problem with height on boats.

I fitted one of these but there is always going to problem with mounting it and room at the back for the pipe work.

I made a SS plate to cross a corner and mounted it on that, just enough room for the pipes.

Funny enough we have just bought a new double skin chimney and rain hat off them via. their eBay shop - way better price than anywhere else and when it has arrived it is actually pretty good quality, bit pricey on the postage but it was quite heavy item.

:) I do so appreciate your advice Julynian :) and for most people that advice would be very apt, but I am not your usual 53 3/4 female ( some of the forum members who have met me know, eh Ally and Pykebird to name a few ;) I am a very methodical person and very focused and for my age very active. I dont mind living basic as long as its only for a short time :) I sleep well anywhere infact if I go to bed before midnight I dont sleep very well, and I usually get up around 6 - 6.30am, that is just the way that I am :)

Plus being a Yorkshire lass I am very careful with my money and I work too ruddy hard to waste not only time but money. I am a very organised person and plan details very well plus I do not start one job until the previous one is finished. The sooner that I get my boat finished the sooner that I can enjoy my boat and relax a lickle :)

Thankfully all the mucky jobs are nearly complete as I have gutted the boat and wirebrushed the inside and given 3 coats of red oxide to the roof, sides and 3/4 of the floor, so only 4 more floor sections to finish painting, then I will be ready to order my Celotex stuff. I cannot do much more as the plastic tubing wont arrive till next Tuesday, so I am having a bit of moi time and going to a mini music festival today :) But once again Thank You for your help, kindness and concerns :)

If you make the caravan very uncomfortable, then your problem is solved?, eg take roof off?

Fair enough tree, seems you have stuff pretty well in hand. Finishing a job completely before starting another is an excellent approach, we managed it mostly, but sometimes you have to leave bits here & there that other jobs cause to be delayed. Keeping it to a minimum though is wise.

Hope the festival goes well.

:) Yep the festival was fun and it also had a Vintage clothes fair and other vintage items as well, plus a Wall of Death cycle track set up, adn moi being an avid cyclist, only just resisted in having a go ... as I did not want to show up any of the 'young uns' LOL, so a really nice day off from the boat.

mind you lol I am itching to get back to work on it, moi is not the most patient of people especially when I have a project/challenge at hand :)
