Apologies if this has already been posted (I did do a search but did not find a posting).

I was passed a flyer this morning about a NB stolen between 7th & 13th Sept from the Greay Haywood area, which was seen being reversed from the area so may be heading towards Birmingham.

She is a 58' semi-trad with a Joshua style bow, with 3 portholes, a side hatch and two windows towards the bow (at least on one side).

Signwrited Monterey Colton on what would be the back cabin area and with the No.2.

If anyone knows how to post a pic, please message me and I will email the scanned poster of the boat.

The owner is Martin and his telephone number is 07973 305967.

Ta for the poster! (And Ta to Kay for posting) Any more photos?

Thanks Chris.

I mentioned this to the owner but he said that only the Police can put a post on there, which surprised me!

The boat is brand new, I believe, so not yet registered with BW, though other info ccould still be posted.

According to the FAQ

How do I add data to the site?

If you wish to add a stolen item to the site you should contact your Insurers or the Police and they will add it on your behalf.

(my bold) - so he needs to have a chat with his insurance people and see if they'll do it if the police haven't.

I don't know if it's just the picture, but the cabin sides at the rear semi-trad area seem to have a rise to the back that is much greater than on the average boat.

That, coupled with the rather unusual 2 window and rest port-holes approach should make it quite easy to spot, even after a repaint.

There are far more anonymous boats out there, but people seem to steal ones that have obvious distinguishing features. A bit odd really, if you want best chance of getting away with it.

More pictures would help the search, if you can get them.

The ski ramp for launching Harriers off looks to be very pronounced.

Yes, that's very 'distinctive'

The 'Josha' bow might be equally 'distinctive' (a gangsta rappa interpretation, perhaps?) so a pic of that might help with identification.

Saw a semi trad with a ski slope like that on the Wyrley and Essington last week, cant remember the colour, name or anything, just remember that it had a ski slope and a semi trad. Might be a bit of a long shot...

The owner is going to email me some more pics today and I will prevail upon someone (Kay perhaps) to laod them.

thanks

Rob

Hi Rob

Yep, just send them to me and I'll host them...

May be better than a longshot, it matches up with the direction and the time. Perhaps they thought that was an out of the way enough place.

Thanks for all who showed an interest in helping to find this boat.

I posted on here after being given a flyer by a fellow boater and speaking to the boat's owner. Since then he has promised to send some more photos and information but that has not been forthcoming so it is difficult to see how Forum member's can assist.

Therefore I will now sink below the parapet, far enough down to resume lurking status.

best regards

If you look at it another way the rather unusual 2 window and rest port-holes approach make this an easy boat to disguise. Jigsaw out the portholes and fit conventional windows and you alter the appearance far more than any rapid repaint would........ I must admit though that the distinctive cabin upsweep does rather give the game away with this one.

I think there is a track on it as police are walking towpath between Samuel Barlow at Alvecote and Glascote.

I'm at home waiting to see if it got through before police arrived.

Maybe bum steer as the police are looking for a green boat with No2 on the side !!!

I've just come across this additional info which may help...

STOLEN BOAT - Stolen from the Colwich area, near Rugeley around Wednesday 10 September 2008.

There was a sighting of the boat on this day, with two men aboard, who were seen reversing the boat in a southerly direction up to the nearby turning point. Once turned, the boat travelled towards Fradley Junction. Although not clear in the photograph below, the boat is British Racing Green in colour.

The boat's Hin No. is:- GB/CNBSTO32C808

The Builder's Plate is:- BSENISO14945

The boat is brand new, 58 foot long, semi trad, with Josher style front. There are 3 port holes to the rear, two rectangular windows to the front and steel doors to the front, rear and side.

Please circulate this information to as many institutions, boat yards and marinas you have at your disposal.

Please contact Martin Upton on 07973 305967 for any further information on the boat. Thank you very much in advance for your assistance in finding this much loved boat. A reward will be given for any information leading to the return or whereabouts of the boat.
