Jacobyte
Hello, can someone tell me please what grade oil I should use for a Perkins 4108 diesel engine, I asked when I bought the cruiser and was told maybe 15/40 oil but the guy was unsure for certain, my father told me this grade oil might be ok for a diesel engine as well, but I just wanted to check on here CanalWorld for sure. Thanks, Mike.
Neil Smith
10/40 or 15/40 would both be fine, just get the lowest grade you can. Neil
Rickent
And use mineral oil, not synthetic as it tends to be too thin for older engines.
Ex Brummie
I use Morris Multivis 15/40. It is semi synthetic, meets the manufacturers spec. and I never have to top up between oil changes. Mineral oils to the same specs are O K but avoid the cheap versions. Perkins last 'for ever' with a regular oil and filter change regime.
Rickent
I did use semi synthetic in mine as i couldn't get mineral but i think older engines are more suited to mineral oil.
