Thames - last week in October/First week in November

Hi all,

 

Lutine is at Lower Heyford, I'm still squeezing dates in my diary to get her further.

 

When I get to the Thames the "bunny hop" approach of the last few weeks won't work (she's spent two weeks in Banbury, two at Aynho and is now set for two at Lower Heyford) so I need to book a few days off. Is there a fundamental disadvantage to the first week in November rather than the last week in October?

There are lock closures starting on 1 Nov on the Thames, so depending on where you are going that may make a big difference!

Yes (somebody got there first)

Goring Lock and Old Windsor Lock cut will be closed from 1st. November - so you can't get to the GU either way....

Ah, I'm not going to the GU but the K and A

 

Old Windsor won't affect me but I think Goring will

and I think a stoppage on the Kennet section, Widmead on 7 nov???? so assuming you want to get off the Kennet before any winter flow sets in late October is the time to go. We will be going down the Thames and up the Kennet late October if you want company, but can't give exact dates yet.
