PMR 150 gearbox squealing in reverse

As title only done 200 hrs new drive plate 200hrs oil level is bang on only just started doing it , nothing on or round the propeller Only does it on low revs , have I go any thing to worry about ? Thanks in advance

If it persists or gets worse then worry about it. Suggest you leave it a few weeks and see how it goes.

Make sure that the selector lever on the box moves fully home when in astern.

Are there any bearing between the gearbox and the prop?

If so when was the last time they were greased?

One thing rules out

 

Have you checked that all the bolts etc on the couplings are tight and that the coupling are not moving as they spin?

No, the lever shouldn't go to full travel. Read the instructions!

Could it be prop singing? Ours squeals a bit in reverse just above idle. It only does it when the prop is completely clear, if it isn't it doesn't do it. (Which is a useful indicator!)

OK, not quite enough then. Fluid, air, steam being forced under pressure through too small a aperture can scream like hell if the the two, 'aperture and pressure' happen to be at the right harmonious pitch with each other for it to happen. Pumping up bike tyres with a traditional pump is similar, can do under a certain force.of the pump handle.

Checked all nuts and bolts all ok ,I think Nick might be right , tyed up tight put in reverse no squealing so it must be prop sing thanks for all your suggestions
