I spotted this article in the latest edition of Private Eye.

I didn't know it was still published! I was an avid Eye buyer and reader from the late '60s until the '80s. I see that they have abandoned their trademark "typewriter" typeface nowadays.

Private eye needs to keep up that is an old story and printed almost word for word somewhere else..

I started buying P.Eye in 1986 and I'm still a subscriber. Crumbs, that's 29 years' worth. The inside cartoons/jokes have always been lame (I think I've seen 2 good 'uns in all that time), perhaps one out of 20 covers are to my taste, but there is an awful lot of intelligent writing packed into that handily-sized newspaper.

I have a pile of previous editions stacked up here, not quite sure of how to dispose of them...

If you are unfamiliar with P.Eye then I'd recommend buying one to try it out.
