We will issue an update when we have more information. This from Cheshire Police: At 9.12am on Friday 17 July 2015 emergency services received a report of an explosion at Wood Flour Mills in Tunstall Road, Bosley.Emergency services are currently at the scene, and have declared this a major incident. It is believed there are four people trapped.Chief Inspector Paul Carroll said: “There is currently a lot of smoke emanating from the building and it is advised that residents living in the area should close their doors and windows. It is also advised to avoid the area while we deal with this incident.”Advice from Public Health England: Any smoke can be an irritant and as such, if people need to be outdoors, they are advised to avoid outside areas affected by any smoke or ash, or to limit the time that they spend in them. Motorists who have to travel through the smoke should keep windows closed, turn off air conditioning and keep their air vents closed. Some of the substances present in smoke can irritate the lining of the air passages, the skin and the eyes. Respiratory symptoms include coughing and wheezing, breathlessness, sputum (phlegm) production and chest pain. If symptoms occur, people should seek medical advice or call NHS 111. Chemicals in the smoke can worsen existing health problems like asthma. People with asthma should carry their inhaler. Also on BBC news website. furnessvale
Sad as this fire is for those concerned, it is a LONG way from the canal. I very much doubt that the much closer main road is closed. George ex nb Alton Edited July 17, 2015 by furnessvale
captain birdseye
It is a fair way off the canal but it will depend on the wind direction and speed as to where is affected by the smoke. Hope the canals open by Sunday as we are heading that way Edited July 17, 2015 by captain birdseye
