Ricco1
Wow, no shortage of knowledge and opinions here! Thanks a lot, yes it did seem a bit funny plus I hadn't calculated the amps. So I think it's something more like this for us: http://www.bimblesolar.com/offgrid/12v/12v-125w-10amppt?sort=p.price&order=ASC But probably with 2x 125W panels rather than just the 1. The seller also sells these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-DC-35A-step-down-controller-converter-high-voltage-319V-to-12V-/121311671804?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Test_Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item1c3ebd35fc And these kits: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-x-100W-300W-Solar-Battery-Charging-Kit-12V-camper-Flexible-roll-up-solar-kit-/121315230683?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item1c3ef383db I bought 3 of those panels a couple of weeks ago. Happy with them apart from that I had to adjust the frames I'd made for them, as they were bigger than the size quoted on the website. I'd suggest you wait until they arrive before making frames/ top boxes.

JDR
A monocrystalline panel costing £100-120 should put out about 19v, an amorphous panel less. This guy has either made a typo, a world leading breakthrough in solar technology or more probably has overdone it on psychotropics.I don't suppose he has £100m from a recently deposed African dictator looking for a safe home? Phil They may be genuine, I'm just very cynical of cheap stuff on ebay. If they are what they claim to be then still no use for an off grid setup like a boat as I haven't seen a controller that can deal with 400+ voc. I suspect these are designed for industrial or home use probably with expensive inverters working above 230v.I'm still struggling to see the advantage of such a hv panel.I thought amorphous panels were limited in efficiency to 10% so would only be of use where you couldn't physically fit other panels. Thanks for the heads up Ricco - I've drawn up all my plans and the only reason I've not made my top box yet is that I'm waiting for a spare part for my jig saw. Any chance you could send the exact measurements my way? Would love to have everything lined up and ready

Would love to have everything lined up and ready Or save some time and have some made for you at not too bad a price: http://www.narrowboattidytop.co.uk/index2.html I've just had a modified (lowered) version of these made with 2 x 100W panels on top. Just waiting for the cable and controller to arrive now!
Jim_UK
In principle I can't see a problem with those in combination with the same sellers Controller/12V Step-Down Converter. It's probably not a MPPT though, so won't be that efficent. If you ask him nicely, he may even do 14.4V (ideal for charging 12V batteries!), 24V etc. Even with it's inefficiencies it may well be very cost effective for some.
