  1. Thank god for that it's one of the most scariest locks out there and can be near impossible to empty properly
  2. Did this ever get wired up and working was interested to see how it worked and which was the best route
  3. Brilliant just what I needed currently building something simular to do various things mostly automate the lights and stuff but like the idea of monitoring the power too I currently have a pi as a router media server on the boat and I'm just waiting a second to do the rest
  4. Hi looking at a new fridge for our new boat thst came wirh a 240 one installed and it needs replacing and I'm wondering if we should change to 12v we had a shoreline on the last boat. But would need to rewire I think to do this been looking at this A++ fridge freezer http://www.appliancecity.co.uk/liebherr/fridges-and-freezers/tpesf1714/product-16147/ The inverter is on all the time anyways for other things so which would be best
  5. If you want a computer aboard then it would be Mac book air for laptop powerful and runs for ages , xperia tablet for a tablet or nexus 10, and if you want a really low power solution then a raspberry pi running Linux on the telly sorted
  6. Really not happy with them tonight came home to find thst my controller had been delivered and it is the wrong one so will now need to send it back and get them to send the right one.
  7. I was supposed to have one delivered today but the carrier said they could not pick it up from them even though they sent a email saying they had dispatched it
  8. You will not be able to put a one plan sim in a mifi as it's for phones only better to get a second hand s4 or other 4g phone and usb Tether that to a router that excepts mobile phones the Asus ones are good

    Boat CCTV

Have a look at the camera systems you can set up with a raspberry pi thst would be a cheap way to do it. Only problem might be accessing it from outside as using a mobile for the Internet connection
  10. http://www.ukmobilebooster.com/UK-Mobile-Booster-PRO-3G-2100.html?gclid=CjgKEAjw-6WcBRCsgNjFy-2OuGYSJADf4R2s6ATuU9zdgqsXtrL6qGW_bSrETxqDu1ifrkRPM-vb3fD_BwE#.U4mF7R9wbbU To get the signal in the boat and then any of the Asus routers that support 3g tethering and we have the n66u and a 4s galaxy 3lte
  11. We have a yogi aerial on the roof to a phone signal booster the phone is then Tethered to a asus router and thst powers the wifi on the boat. We are on a three unlimited contract and have no problems streaming things works really well
  12. We designed our whole electrical system around being able to run a hairdryer and straighters because canal hair is just a big no. Also the use of the word bird is a sure fire way to solve this problem as she will not be around lol
  13. Would be interested in the loss in power wirh the converter bet it get rather hot
  14. How you going to get the 319v to 12v with usable amps the person that can work that out will make a killing as otherwise these panels are useless
  15. Oh well that was nice while it lasted the one plan sim only will not remain for too much longer if they are heading in that direction. Was hoping to swop to that in October when ours is up.
  16. Hi I'm just about to do this and need the parts to put a feed off the side of the tank I am not sure which bits are needed to do this there used to be one pre made on eBay but I can not find it now can anyone help thanks
  17. Hi all we had 2 cats when we moved on 5 years ago and they went in a few times the only worry was between boats but they swam well and never seemed to get there heads wet one of them even liked the shower and blow dry he got when he did fall in. The other cat which our boat is named after never fully trusted the engine and always hide when we moved I think she didn't like the trees to be moving the other one was fine and sat out on deck with us. We recently lost one and she is very greatly missed. Though we have recently acquired 2 kittens who will be proper boat cats they are currently busy dismantling the boat as I type.
  18. Hi don't know if you are still looking at doing this or not. The problem will be accessing the mobile phone from the internet. As it's not a fixed up address you will need a dynamic dns to do it and then this will need a way of connecting to the changing ip if your on an android phone there are apps that can do it. Also the providers filers may stop it but you could use a vpn to get round that too. It might be easyer to set up a system with a hidden router and hard drive attached to record stuff.
  19. Is that boat still there that started this thread ? Just wondered
  20. Re read the tiny manual again and it says better in series. I will try the shading thing later see if it drops the mppt is a tracer so can do upto 120v I think the panels are from tri solar we were getting upto 20amps yesterday though not constant with them in series. I,do have the connectors so could try both just need a day when it's not cloudy. There is no shade on our mooring so series could be the way to go.
  21. Thanks chris and everyone they are currently at the max 5 metres from the controller and are not shaded the controller can handle 40 amps so should be enough also got an inline fuse to protect it. Will put them in parellel then and see how it goes thanks
  22. Hi just a quick question we have 4x100w panels on our boat 12v each and an mppt regulator which is the best way to wire the panels in series or in parallel for the highest amps out. Thanks
  23. Wow your all being so so bitish about all this will someone just go and ask them what they are doing :0) 7 pages is far to long for this threat
  24. Wow three pages for this, I'm enjoying it. Can not understand why people have a problem. If I cam to that point needed to use it could not get in I'd simply moor up along side job done. They should not be there. You people down south have some funny ways, I can not wait to one day take our boat down there. I'm sure il have lots of fun.
  25. This is Bespin who the boat is named after. And Pablo sunning himself in one of his fav spots
