Christmas & New Year on the K&A

For the forth year running, the plan is to take the boat from Aldermaston to Devizes and back over the festive season.

 

Every other year, the plan has been thwarted by over-running stoppages, frozen canal, or the Kennet flooding.

 

What odds will I get for this year?

I think 5-1 for "frozen" is a bit generous, but the others are probably spot on.

'Fraid not - by the time we got back to England on the 23rd, the Kennet was in spate. One friend's boat made it to Widmead lock and had to turn back due to water from the Kennet coming over both sets of gates. So we declared it yet another washout and went to North Devon instead. There we had the bar in the hotel flood in the exceptionally high tides, but that was fun.
