Aldi Arc welder, hot or not?

I only want to play/learn on one though, I do not need to borrow one urgently to try and weld anything essential (or even functional...)

The AC cheap buzz boxes can weld ok, the voltage and amps are the same whatever transformer you use, it's just every part of the thing is made down to a price, and won't last long. plus they overheat annoyingly fast.

 

Also those very very cheap ones have Aluminium windings. what difference that makes i don't know.

 

I did this flue collar with an air cooled 140 Amp AC buzz box, it was an ESAB though.
