Another Gulper Question

'Evening all.

I have a Whale Gulper that empties the shower tray.

If I use a "T" or a "Y" piece to join the basin waste pipe into the shower waste pipe will the Gulper still empty the shower or basin, when one or the other pipe is empty?

Only if the basin joins below the level of the shower tray.

There are a few other gulpers that may be of interest in the IC series (Grey and Gulley) see here.

 

These have a "Y" adapter, but also a sensor to start the pump as well.

Think I am saying the same as Innisfree but as long as the take off 'T' for pump is below the shower tray it would work fine. Obviously will fill the shower tray if you (or more probably a guest)forget to switch the pump on- I have done similar several times but take all the drains into a sump with a float switch in which then switches the gulper on and off as needed.

Can't. The basin is inboard ie. not on the external wall.

The basin is inboard.

 

The waste pipe runs under the floor (below the water line) then up, to exit out of the hull, above the water line.

 

This leaves a loop - like a water trap- and sometimes takes a while to empty.

So fit a U bend trap under your sink (to prevent smells coming back up) and run the pipe down under boards the up to the skin fitting.

 

Avoids complication and the use of lekky every time someone washes their hands.

One of mine is inboard and it still runs straight out of the side, the pipe run is conveniently hidden though..
