NB Alnwick
Any pointers to good mooring spots here? Cheers, Ian. We always try to moor beside the Lidl supermarket right on the border between Leamington Spa and Warwick. The canal here has plenty of water under the boat and there are convenient mooring rings to tie up to. This spot is also relatively quiet at night and handy for the railway station, Victoria Park and our favourite shop at the Houshold Waste Recycling Centre in Princes Drive. It is also handy for victualling . . .
Jamborock
If its not too far, the Saltisford Arm Canal Trust moorings at Warwick are excellent and very friendly.
westwd
Lidl is at Br44, there's a 24hr Tesco at Br46 with moorings. Didn't really fancy anywhere in RLS and turned up unannounced at Saltisford and were welcomed, short walk into Warwick.
PaddingtonBear
Very, very wise, it is on a par with Leicester but without the piss heads.
Cheshire cat
We moored up in Leamington twice last week and so did lots of other boats. The canal is the roughest bit and gives a completely wrong impression of the town. There's not that much room near Lidl. Perhaps three or four boats worth. A new massive Morrison's has opened opposite Lidl. We moored further west on rings opposite some new apartments. Didn't see or experience any trouble. Short walk into the town centre. For those that don't know it, Leamington is a very nice upmarket town, it is just that the canal goes through the worst bit of it and not the centre. Because Leamington is such a good shopping centre the adjoining Warwick is very quiet in comparison, with not many shops at all. So if you want a shopping town, it is Leamington that you want not Warwick.
Lady Muck
Another vote for the Saltisford Arm - when we moored there they were pruning the trees. They asked us if we wanted any of it and we left with a roof full of firewood.

If you wanted a shopping trip or a night out in Leamington, then it would really be a taxi ride from Saltisford Arm. On the other hand if you are just looking for somewhere to stop to break the journey down into the Avon valley and up again, then it is fine, as is above Cape Locks (Warwick) or by Radford road bridge (Napton side of Leamington).
