Firstborn
Hi, Seem to have a small intermittent leak in our Vanette Oven. Only seems to happen every now & then – it’s like the knob of the oven is getting stuck, but doesn’t seem stuck – weird. Anybody had a similar problem? – don’t really want to buy a new oven if the old one can be fixed.

Amen to that .... but just out of interest, is it when the gas bottle is about to run out?

I have just repaired one of these as some one who didn't know you have to push to turn broke it You can dismantle them but the thermocouple activator is not obvious. I priced a new valve at £180+ - a new oven is about £220. Alex

MtB
The gas taps need dismantling and re-greasing. A basic job for any competent gas bod.
Firstborn
Thank you for all your comments. Thank you also for the offer of a vanette oven - to far to travel. I will attempt to re-grease the taps. Regards.

MtB
Graphite gas tap grease, NOT stern grease! Indeed, I should have said so. Like all things gassy, it isn't cheap but it's important to use the right stuff. Ebay link
