Mooring in really stupid places

Somebody was moored at on half of the lock landing below junction lock at Fradley last night, 2000 ish I think. Was it wrong of me to 'nudge' them on purpose, then apologise for trying to get my boat onto the LOCK LANDING. They looked most 'peed off' but didn't say anything.

ETA I was prepared to discuss the matter with them if they wished.

It would be most unusual if someone wasn't moored on that lock landing.

Confession time. It was probably me although i don't remember being nudged or looking peed off about it. No excuse really but I didn't realise that it was the lock landing - it is a fair bit from the lock - when I moored there. We had been locking with laplander - the super little steam ice breaker all day and as the steerer had to go home when we got to Alrewas, Iain then took over steering Laplaner and I was on my own on Gamebird. When we got to the lock before Junction I stopped to take on some water and hoped to find somewhere to moor our little 26 foot boat. I saw a space at the end of the moored boats and slotted into it before going up to the lock to work laplander through. I left them going down the Coventry to find a mooring and went back to gamebird , fed dogs and fell asleep - it had been a long day. Much later, I woke, and went in search of Iain who I met walking up the Coventry - Laplander was moored a long way down. When we got back to Gamebird , Iain pointed out that I was on a lock landing but as it was late and boats seemed to have stopped moving, and we were both knackered, we decided to stay where we were and move off early in the morning. This is what we did.

I apologise to any one I obstructed but it has to be said that the few boats which came past before we set off this morning hovered in the middle of the cut well in front of us so they may not have wanted to use the landing anyway. Still no excuse though.

Another example and this time on proper moorings!

This is Wolverhampton in June, there were moorings free ahead of the towpath moored boats.

This picture was taken early evening after the BCN Pelsall rally and the moorings at Wolverhampton were crammed as would be expected. A few boats had come and gone but people were desperately trying to find a mooring for the night.

It is me with my face blurred out. The OP nearly crashed into the boats moored opposite because he was travelling too fast for the conditions. He the started on us for mooring inconsiderately, we pointed out that when we moored there was only one boat on the offside and therefore he should talk to the boat that had breasted up them.

Also a number of boats had been through, it was no worse for passage than any hire base out of season. The OP strangely enough managed to get Barnet through.

When questioned about the taking of pictures, apparently it was for insurance purposes, a phase he has used elsewhere in this thread.

That evening whislst solcialising, we met other boaters that had travelled from Pelsall that afternoon who had had the "benifit" of the OPs wisdom as to help them with their boating.

I do appologies to the OP for my use of "Builders Language" at the time, but I certainley make no applogy for the content.

I honestley hope that I never meet the OP on my travels again, this incident spoiled our day.

I will not comment further.
