Hannah and Jay
I've been advised to replace the hosing on our Perkins as externally it looks a bit perished. There's 6 bits that need replacing, all attaching to metal parts 35mm ish in diameter. I've tried our local autofactors for hosing but they don't go that chunky and my local boatyard has recommended taking them off to make sure that they're ok on the inside, i.e. not collapsing, and then wrap some "self amalgamating tape" around the outside, never heard of the stuff myself, but apparently you can get easily in diy stores. Think I'd like to replace the pipe, but not sure where to get the right stuff, any ideas? Cheers
RLWP
Last time, we just walked into a chandlers and bought it off the shelf by the metre Midland Chandlers have it Richard
by'eck
There are many places where self-amalgamating tape works, particularly the better quality stuff, but wrapping around water hoses especially if under pressure is not one of them. Source the correct hose as replacement.
jelunga
a good place to buy Perkins spares is a company callled Diperk. It was cheaper for me to buy genuine filters for my MC42 than pattern and they gave good service.

Cheers You can still get self amalgamating tape, but its not as easy as it used to be with PVC freely available! Are all the pipes straight? Any of the big (chandler) suppliers will do (even over the internet), or a hose specialist if you can find one (sort that do heating, ventilation or hydralics). If they are shaped you might find it more difficult!

Hannah and Jay
Excellent. Thanks, will try chandlers/ASAP for some. Good to hear good reports of Diperk too, I anticipate using them soon...
