Biggles
I am not far off ordering my windows. I can't decide on the finish and would welcome discussion on the various finishes. The colour will be silver thats a given. I am favoring anodized as it it very hard wearing, but the window manufacture is strongly in favor of powder coating. What do you think, or your experiences? Biggles Hi Well here's my view - Aluminium windows should all be anodised. Either silver coloured (natural) or distant second choice- gold. IMO powder coating will look like cheap alternative and probably is. I dont even like the black anodised as they still looks like cheap alternative. But any way - your choice will be right choice. Biggles
My concern with powder coat is if it gets scratched water seeps under it then in winter it freezes and blows.
WotEver
I'd say anodised, but insist that it must be Class 1 anodising (0.7mm thickness). If the supplier doesn't know what Class 1 anodising is, use a different supplier. Tony
bag 'o' bones
We've got gold anodised worcester windows on our boat which looks ok but having seen the same windows on another in polihised aluminium I think they are a bit too bright. i think the polished aluminium looks fine on a yaht painted white, but on a narrow boat painted in a darker colour the contrast is just too great. Having said that though, if they can produce an anodised aluminim say in a steel grey then that would be a bit different and suitable for most paint jobs.
