Water Rat.
Can anyone please tell me if I am to use polyurethane or non-polyurethane gloss varnish to finish off my painted roses. I have painted both wooden and metal stuff. I have been given conflicting advice. Thanks.

Polyurethane varnishes are only suitable for indoor applications as they are susceptible to degrading quickly under UV light. For anything exposed to sunlight use a yacht varnish, but try a small test area first to make sure it's compatible with the paint you used. dave moore
Hi I'm a professional signwriter/boat decorator...get hold of Craftmasters Clear Varnish to preserve your work. Polyeurathane is too hard and unforgiving for your use. If I can help further, PM me Dave Edited February 4, 2010 by dave moore
