blackrose Posted December 11, 2009 Report Share Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) If you talk to Morso or read the installation instructions for one of their stoves (and this also applies to any other stove), they say that flues should never be redued in diameter. They also give minimum combined flue/chimney lengths - which for the Squirrel I believe is about 3.5m to achieve the correct draw. Of course none of us on boats can possibly do this. From my own experience I have come to the conclusion that there is a correlation between flue diameter and length. My Morso Panther has a 6" dia flue and I have a combined flue/chimney length of about 2.5m, yet if I open the doors of the stove to re-fuel I get a lot of fume spillage into the boat. This big diameter flue obviously needs its full specified 4m length to draw properly (although its fine with the doors shut)..
