Night Hawk
After a particularly delicious dinner on Saturday night, where I had some ginger cheese cake, I went to the farmers market and in a moment of domestic bliss purchased a huge nob of Ginger. I now realise that I don't have any recipes for the stuff, and after a google search I thought I would see what you lot do with ginger? I need recipes that would suit me and dont require too much preparation or attention. I am one of those cooks that starts cooking, gets excited, and then it is a race against time as to whether the end result will be created before I have eaten all the ingredients. Hmmmm...a huge ginger knob......No comment! The best thing that I'd suggest would be to plant it in a large pot and keeping it moist put it on the window ledge.. It will sprout and grow into the most glorious houseplant with stunning foliage... After a few years - pull it up and you'll notice that the original knob of ginger you planted will have doubled in size! Beats Viagra!

How come an innocent posting soon degrades into that most basic of instincts - SEX? Are you implying that Ginger can boost things up (in the way that Viagra is alleged to do)? As an interesting aside, google "Gingering Up" Rob

Ginger is an obligatory ingredient of curries-but add it thinly sliced towards the end of simmering time

alan_fincher
.........................and in a moment of domestic bliss purchased a huge nob of Ginger. Was going to make a fairly poor Chris Evans / Billie Piper "joke", but thought better of it!
Night Hawk
I'd plant it in a pot of compost and keep it moist and warm....it quickly grows into a spectacular house plant with superb foliage....the added bonus is that the root expands as well...so the result of planting your ginger is that your knob will grow quite dramatically! More to share wih your family and friends!
