Hi we're newbies to the boating world. We've started very small with a Norman 17 or Yoghurt pot as we've been told! We have mooring & slipway booked from Sept 8th, but were hoping to find a slip way to use ASAP. Based in Coventry, we've  Contacted main marinas in area with no joy? Only place we haven't tried is colehurst farm but can't seen to find any contact details for them. Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Anji.

'Yoghurt Pot' is rather seen as a derogatory term, it refers to a boats construction GRP/Fiberglass (and generally being white) as opposed to steel.

Reference slippage, hopefully you are licenced, insured and BSS.  I'm sure i saw a map somewhere showing slipways.... Have a look at Open Canal Map, that may well show them.....

Yes we are very happy with our purchase as a starter boat and get a feel for the canal. I've walked the canal for years and found the boating community so very friendly and helpful. Was even shown how to moor my boat up just passing by talking to someone.

Thankyou, we have everything in place, safety certificates, insurance, canal & waterways license. Just eager to get on the water now before the weather changes.

Have you tried the Coventry boat club, tucked under the M6

Are they allowing boats that side of the stop lock

Good point, I'd forgotten about the badgers. Perhaps it could be opened by arrangement for access - I think the closure is precautionary rather than an actual leak? Can't hurt to ask.

It's not leaking. But there is a whole load of plastic sheeting in the canal outside the dam just in case the badgers dig through into the cut.

The guy we were chatting to at the ACA shop says they're due to have someone in next month to look at relocating the badgers and then the plan is to pile around the bit they've been digging, so it should be reopen next year.
