kWh calculation for inverter selection

We have a 12v fridge which has started becoming unreliable - not running when turned on at the switch, compressor running more often than it did when it does run - and we’ve just lost confidence in it.

 

The options are to replace with a new 12v unit or ‘upgrade’ to a 230v unit, which poses a question:

 

The present charger/inverter is a 1500w Sterling quasi-sine wave job - will that output a good enough wave to run a modern 230v fridge, or is this a ‘try it and see’ scenario?

Its big enough but I don't know if it will like the wave form

My 'Work top' £60 cheapo freezer runs quite happily on my 1800w 'modified sine wave' Sterling inverter.

@ditchcrawler - it’s the wave form that I was worried about, particularly as so much modern stuff seems to be rammed full of electronics.

 

@Alan de Enfield - how old is your cheapo freezer, please?

It was from Argos - I'd guess about 3 years old.

I have yet go decide on a fridge freezer for the new boat, I am tempted to just move my 12 volts one across, but we will see nearer the time
