James_P
Hi all Looks needing to use power tools on the 2kw pure sine inverter. When running these large loads with high inductances how wise is it to push the inverter? Or should leave a good over head like push no more than 1.5kw? Thanks again James
MtB
Read the inverter manual.

Thanks again James If the inverter is actually rated at 2kw, as opposed to 2kva, then there will be some headroom. The power factor on a power tool working hard is not that far from unity. Any decent inverter, if overloaded, will shut down gracefully, so overall I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thanks again James I used a 600w drill on a 1kW continuous (claimed) cheap inverter. I started the drill bit slowly increasing the speed and it worked fine like this for months, until one day the inverter went bang. I now have a ‘proper’ inverter and it’s reasonably bomb proof. So depends on your inverter.
