Help. Water tank at the front of the boat been leaking, 5 inches of water being drained out now. What risk is there of rotting through from thr inside of the baseplate and hull.

If you have it rimmed down by the stern, have the ballast slightly raised above the baseplate, you dry all the water out that you can, and ventilate the bilge, a lot less than you think. It is likely that you get condensation down there in winter unless there is a through draught for ventilation.

It could take days or weeks for all the water to drain to the back of the bilge.

Virtually none in the short term. If I understand you correctly and you are worried about the water causing corrosion of the hull, then yes it will eventually. I'd say you need to get it dried out within about a year.

But there is no risk of corroding right through in less tan about 25 years.

Be prepared for a large bill to cut out and replace the tank. Ours was a stainless one that split. The cockpit floor had to be cut out, the tank then cut up in situ to get it out, New tank procured - ours came from Goodwin at Crewe and is rigid plastic - and then fitted, its likely that the fillling point will need changing and the outlet plumbing sorted out. The cockpit floor has then to be welded back in place and everthing repainted. Think a good 4 figure sum - the tank was about £600 plus vat, there was then a lot of labour!!.
