Ac sparky
Looking for some advice please we are removing the pump out storage tank and thinking of using the space to fit an extra water tank going to be about 5m from the main tank with that distance Will the supply need to be pumped ? or will gravity take care of it we have a 15mm cold supply running past can that be diverted to supply the tank or something larger directly from the main tank say 22mm to feed it. Tony Brooks
Don't understand because that 15mm pipe is probably on the pressure side of the water pump but you will need the new tank connected to the input/suction side of the pump. Just linking the two tanks by a low lever 15mm pipe would do but he new tank may take a while to fill if using a fast hose so i would use 22mm. don't forget a breather for the new tank. GUMPY
My dual tanks both had individual deck fillers and 15mm pipe between them all before the pump. The water pump was Teed from this pipe it worked well for years except when the the front tank was empty the rear was still 1/3 full. To enable us to use the last 1/3 or indeed select either tank there were valves either side of the feed to the pump which meant we could isolate either tank. You must join the tanks on the non pressurised side of the pump.
Ac sparky
Tony spot on as usual it is on the pumped side so a 22 mm link and won’t forget the breather now you have said about it. Regards

Well you could not fit one, but then the new tank could not vent air so it would not fill.

David Mack
Plumb the tanks so that you fill one, and draw water from the other. That way water moves through both tanks. If you fill and draw from the same tank the water in teh other tank may go stale.
Ac sparky
Yes get that, feed secondary tank from main tank and supply taps and water heater from secondary to get flow through both tanks.
