Groceries at the Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne

Not sure if this a permanent arrangement, but its a great idea.  For being such a lovely village, SB is short of a shop.

To the north, Blisworth is the next shop close to the cut.

 

I guess to the south its Tescos at Wolverton.

It may just be a trial to generate some income whilst the Pub is doing nothing. The owners will have time on their hands at present, but if it's not too onerous when Pubs open again, they may carry on.

It's been famous for selling essentials like milk/bread and tinned goods since the days of The Vikings passing through.

We've been using it for cheap take-out beer during lockdown, Marstons stopped producing kegs so when his old stock ran out or went off, the gaffer switched to more locally available beers.

For the foreseeable future the Boat Inn will be open on Wednesday through to Saturday we will be open from 9:30am til 8:00pm.  Sandwiches, burgers, cakes & ice cream will still be available until 5pm. From 5:00pm, it will be cold drinks (incl bottled beer) and snacks.   For service visit the hatch on the canalside where our lovely staff will be happy to help!

Off to get a bacon cob in a minute. 

Lovely atmosphere last evening, well socially distanced spaced groups enjoying the sun.

 

Late on after 11 arrived a sneaky wide beam that came from the tunnel.

 

Still there now on the disabled mooring.
