Can't wait for Easter to come, as we haven't been out since October! The batteries will need re-charging first though, as we managed to run them down somehow...hope they are not ruined! Out from Newbury on the K&A, we will make for Hungerford, and perhaps get to Crofton to see the Pumping Station and put a few pence in the coffers at the tea room.... all sounds very twee.. .

Hi Nick, We are moored at Ham Manor Basin at Newbury. The proprietors are lovely people and the prices are not too bad, considering you are but a day or so cruising away from the Thames. You are not exactly in the "middle" of the K&A here, and there are lots of locks in either direction, but I recommend it. Newbury Boat Company has two locations in Newbury, one at Ham Manor Basin and one at Greenham. Good Luck Jo and Kevin nb C'est la Vie

We are reasonably new to boating and have just purchased a 12v portable television as we are taking the kids with us for 2 weeks in the summer. We were wondering if anyone has any good advice on what type of aerial is best as the aerial on the tv does not get a very good reception

Thank you to the Tuesday Night Club for their report on the 2000 visit to the Kennet & Avon Canal. We have just got a mooring at Newbury and have never cruised the K&A before - the photographs posted were of great interest to us. Jo B and Kevin Hopefully owners of a narrowboat by next week.

Anthony, been tracking your messages - what happened? Did you buy the boat or not? My partner and I have our survey on Monday 3rd October, for our first boat. The advice given out to you about surveyors, brokers etc will help us in our negotiations on Monday - Thank you all! Jo B

Once your your survey is completed, I will be interested to see the results. We are looking for our first boat, and a place to moor in the South (we live in the Guildford area). If anyone who reads this can give us a few pointers on suitable available moorings south of the M25 if possible, I would be very grateful. Thanks Jo B.
