  3. For the money, the Gavonic isolators do work,and very well It be great if somone from the forum does the simple test, and to see the results. Proof is in the pudding! Col
  4. Another observation Was that I happened to be around when a boat got craned out last week. Nice folks, constant cruiser,, don't have 240v at all, just a genie, very rarely plugged in to shore power, 1990s boat, owned the boat for 12 years, hadn't been out for a long long time, yet no pitting,!!! Simple test that was done on our boat and neighbours boats Here we are plugged in 24/7 I had a new A new wide beam never been in the water, launched 2009, didn't go anywhere really, but a year and a half later it was taken out for survey as I had sold it. The amount of pitting in just a year shocked me and my neighbours, at the same time we were talking to a surveyer and a qualified electrician, who carried out a simple test, as one of our neighbours boats produced a lot of air type bubbles a bit like a aspirin in a glass. I'm not a electrician, but he Put a 1) meter one end to the shell and one to the mooring ring with the boat connected to the mains and it reg 6.1 stray volts 2) done the same test, but disconnected the shore line and hardly nothing! The test surprised us all and went down the line of boats carrying out the same tests and different degrees of results but all showed stray current My neighbour that day got hold of a Gavonic isolated and had it fitted , Carried out same test With or without shoreline connected. Measured hardly anything! And no fizzing bubbles Over the next week a total of 4 of us had GIs fitted Of course if your moored next to someone that's plugged in and with no GI I imagine your boat is still going to attract stray current from him. It be interesting if somone here on the forum done the same simple test, and confirm his results. Please as it's a simple 5 minute test but with sup rising results There are more expensive galvanic transformers which you can buy from £400 but a Gavonic isolator you can buy for around £75 They work Gavonic isolators stop stray current which helps you stop electrolisis, stray current, and damage to your hull through pitting Big ships use a transformer system but in a grander scale

  11. If every one effected done the above in the next 5 days, BarBy moorings will either pay up all, no assets, then barby will Be forced to close. ( ok might start another company) but if judgements are made they can't be directors, nor will they get finance with ccjs If claims are made personal to Mr and Mrs then you might end up with their 50 inch LCD TV!! At least you will get some enjoyment knowing you can follow your claim and imagine his wifes face when she gets some thick brown envelopes on their door step.   12. So has anybody taken a small claim out on this man yet. After running a small business sometime ago, having to deal with late layers not sticking to terms I found it so easy to make a small county court claim 1). The whole process can be done on line by your self 2) the court receives your claim, and then sends out the claim details to bar by moorings which he has just a number of days to pay up or defend 3) if nothing is heard then the court will notify you,they will then send the claim either by reg post or send a sever/ballife to the address to serve. 4) if he does not comply then a judgement is made against him 5) you then apply (all on the same online claim for enforcement) they send in balifts in to seize goods to the value of total Inc their fees Ps always cover the fact that you must make sure you get his company name right, or a personal claim to him or and his wife (I duplicate the claim to cover companies,or and private individuals) It was amazing how company directors driving around in big flash cars, big houses,big boats, money stuffed in their matresses, yet their company showed bugger all!! But when a county court claim lands on their private door step,as well as their company address bills always got paid!!! No one likes a county county court judgement The only thing I think I would do is as it does not cost a lot of money to do this online,knowing all costs have to be met by the other party anyway, is triple the action to cover him,her and company??   14. I agree with MJG I quite like the boat, lots of space, no having to squeeze anywhere, The colour and exterior can massively be improved by way of a darker finish. I always thought, just like cars over the years have drastically changed for the better' why can't narrow boats?? By making the boat sides higher, making the insides high, the sides could incorporate storage lockers along the length os boat both sides. Look at FAirline, sun seeker, sealine,over the years they have changed are are completely different when they started production. Just lookmat a 1980s 30 ft sealine, and compare it with a new one, sliding roofs, bathing platforms, large double berths at the bow,no cockpit doors in site!! Maybe this boat will be the future, especially now the government want more folks living on the water!! Col

And does the change from a 18 x 10 to a 16x 12 seem at all feasible with my situation The hole s been cut for the weed hatch, the weed hatch is being fabricated as we speak Many thanks in advance Col
  24. I just realised havent mentioned boat sizes 50 ft 7th beam water line 14 ton as weighed on crane Friday, with me not on the boat.   25. Hi All Any help or advice please. As some of you know I have a Dutch steel crusier here on the GU Last month as posted had 2 short trips out giving our new beta 50 hp a run from Willowbridge to Peartree bridge On the way there got a sleeping bag stopping the prop I had to go in! On the way bag got a jacket & rope also stoping the prop and having to go in for the second time! as I haven't got a weed hatch fitted Never again do I want to go in if I can help it and with great advice from the forum,Last week I was craned out to have a weed hatch put in,and inspect prop When the boat was craned out, the gap between the prop and the bottom of boat was just 1 cm,also from the Skeg 2 cm The prop is the original at 18x 10', as the boat is 1940 I imagine there was a big lump in thereorignally on top of this the engine max hp is 2800 but only manages 2200,? and have been told the prop is well too big I've been offered a 16x12 which will give me a lot more clearance between skeg and bottom of boat,and have been told it would be better? Will this prop be better for me? Also the biggest weed hatch I can have is 18 x 10 will this be a problem? Many thanks in advance Col
