  4. Fantastic timing Bob, I was thinking of making one of these over the summer. Have you got some more pictures? I've been getting my information from here It'd be great to hear how it performs day to day on a boat. Cheers Steve

  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b011w4wz/The_One_Show_09_06_2011/ It'll be there soon, probably before 9pm Steve
  7. OK, I think I got it! If I want it fitted by a pro, it's a room sealed type, for DIY I can fit the non sealed, provided I'm competent. I think I can handle the install and have Gas Safe registered friend who said he'll check it for me after to make sure it's safe. Out of interest, what are the options for room sealed ones? Cheers Steve
  8. Hi Tony, It's for a liveaboard, would that make a differnce? Cheers Steve
  9. Thanks for the info! Am I right to think the electronic one requires mains and the piezo not? I was thinking about that, would there be any reason not to mount it 600mm or so from the roof and have just a little vent on top? Thanks Steve
  10. Hi All, I'm thinking of fitting a Morco water heater and am not sure which model is the right one for a boat. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks Steve
  11. I thought the pipes had to go up by about 4deg? Smelly, it takes 3 days to get the other end of your boat warm? I'm about to order the bits to fit my squirrel with boiler next weekend and am wondering if I should bother and just fit another stove at the other end!
  12. What about Springfield Marina or Kekseys (spelt wrong, I'm sure!) Farm (on the Stort)? If you can hire the crane have a look at Lea Road near Waltham Abbey, the road runs right next to the river and there would be loads of space at the weekend for a quick lift in Steve
  13. Is it an 'active' lead? If not there will be too much of a voltage drop across it's length to power the dongle. Active leads are usually more expensive (mine was £20 from Maplins) and the USB socket on them is usually larger than than the non-active leads Here the one I have and it works fine. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97272

I got newsrack, it's OK, very much like the built in email application. Seems like the best of what was on offer, but it's early days for the iPad in terms of apps!

I picked one up on Friday at the Apple store in Brent Cross shopping centre. I opted for the wifi + 3G model and it's pretty amazing, flash is not a problem as most of my web browsing is text based (RSS news etc), it works great with my 3 mi-fi dongle plus I have the option of using the internal O2 sim if the 3 network is unavailable. The battery life is amazing, only charged mine once since Friday and have not put it down I'd recommend anyone try one out before making up excuses to hate it. Seriously, just try one out!
  18. The 4000 volt inverter might tax the 3 leisure batteries though!
  19. Superb, I've been waiting for one of these deals to come round since I overslept for the last Lidl one! Alarm set! Steve.
  20. It's 7 days in the Basin, 14 at LV. I like the Basin, but it's also always really windy due to the tall buildings, but also pretty quiet considering where it is. Steve
  21. IMO you should have a look at one of the 'other' unit shifting bikeshops, Evans or Cycle Surgery. I found this at £400 with nearly £130 off! You have the best deals around now as shops are desperate to shift the last of the 2009 models so offer crazy discounts I got a 2008 Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra 8 for £200 off in sept 2008 because it was 'old' stock! Shop around and you'll get a £600 bike for your £400. Cheers Steve edited because i'm an idiot that can post links properly!
  22. It's quite normal. When gases are compressed they heat up and when they expand they cool. Same as if you've ever painted anything big with aerosol paint, you get a frozen finger! I'd imagine the gennie uses a lot of gas so lots of cooling, hence the frost. Hope that helps! Steve
  23. Engine all back together and running fine, it was the cam follower(s) (there were actually 2 of them that were displaced). Thanks again for all your help guys, esp Gazza with the awesome walkthrough Just need some welding finished on my leaking skin tank and i'm good to go! If anyone needs any welding done on the Lee Navigation, I've got a mate who's pretty good and very reasonable. Cheers Steve
  24. Excellent! Cam followers, DOH! After spending my youth rebuilding minis you think i would have remembered they were in there! Thanks for the help guys, that walkthrough especially Gazza. Having another avenue of investigation has really lifted my mood! I'll get on it in the morning and post my findings tomorrow. Cheers Steve
