  1. Hi folks, glad to see this forum is buzzing. I`m helping do up an old NB which will be a floating eco-garden project for local kids,on the R.Lee near the Olympics. Everything about the project must be greener than green, and today I was asked, isn`t bituminous bottom blacking bad for the fish etc? And I have checked a few paint data sheets on the web,and they all say things like `harmful to the aquatic environment` and so on,so out of the question. Has anyone come up against this issue and found a solution? Any suggestions welcome, doesn`t neccessarily need to be the cheapest. Thanks in advance regards Jerry
  2. Lady Muck, where did you hear I can keep "domestic animals" on my BW mooring? We`d love a couple of goats which are well domestic guys. Great news !
  3. Crayfish swarming in Hampstead Road Lock (also known as Camden Lock) in London, busy market with lots of edible litter/rubbish. Good luck to you if you eat them to us they are creepy-crawley verrmin, big up the Chinky food chain, how long til Sweet and Sour Mitten Crab,if they are an alien invader you will be doing your bit for native species of water cockroaches, try them and let us know regards Jerry.
  4. In contrast to the DVLA,BW have written on my licence reminder that I don`t need to send proof of insurance, but they will only be doing "random checks" from now on.Sacked a few office staff or something. And my BSC expiry date is on their computer apparently. Refreshing these days to find a big organisation asking less information, and my licence has reduced in price bacause I didn`t include the fenders in the LOA. Save money shrink your boat they won`t even notice. Big up losing the office staff BW,when they get their next job it will be a bucket of cold water! Happy sailing Jerry
  5. Thank you for your advice E,it isn`t worth over that,fingers crossed,regards,Jerry.
  6. hi folks the ice is not quite thick enough to bear my weight,so a bit shivery. I hand hauled this 50`condemned vessel, and I`m trying to put in a offer to BW to save their costs and just let me pay all that`s owing and "transfer title" as they say. Through personal and historic reasons she belongs on that pound, and we are trying to find a way. Have any of you tried to bypass this crushing historic vessels bo**ocks business? It`s not to sell by the way,but as a welder/fabricator at least they bothered to shape the bows. Thanks for any suggestions, hope all your burners are drawing nicely.regards Jerry x
  7. YOU ARE "The Cheapest Pie",too much plucking, not enough meat. Join the Crayfish Liberation Front.
  8. Hello Mr Duck. Would you like to come and play with Uncle Jerry`s new air rifle?
  9. Thanks for your replies folks. You have raised some points we hadn`t thought of. We will now have more to ask the guy we are dealing with at BW,thanx.
  10. HI guys, unbelievably BW have started the proceedings with the local council to build and offer me and a handful of others a full-on residential mooring. After picking myself up off the floor,I began to ponder. We will have to pay large mooring fees, council tax etc which we are prepared for,on top of the usual boat licence, insurance, etc. But will I be able to pass it on to the kids when I am transmogrified into an otter,or will BW claim it back and put it out to tender? Can I put a different boat on it and keep it? Can I,supposing some drastic change in circs, flog it to the highest bidder as if it was "Dunroamin,Acacia Avenue"? I know that if you have a "long-term" mooring,BW retain all these rights, but over the years we will be paying them a substantial amount of money between us,and I can`t work out if it`s worth it. I would be very grateful for any legal nitty-gritty about these matters. Thanx in advance,Jerry.
  11. I pay my licence and if any BW stroker comes near my boat to tow it away they will SO be in hospital.Used to be alright on the old cut,now we`re fighting. Why?
  12. Bite their fingers off matey, top motors and still have spares back-up,good website is "internalfire" where you can download workshop manuals etc for most old diesels,Jerry
