  1. Thanks tillergirl. Very thorough info. Well I think we solved it.... We'd changed our toilet fluid to the biomagic (which was our usual- then we changed to similar crystals and then got the fly trouble) .... once we changed back within a couple of weeks the insanely annoying flies had gone. so I really hope this info helps someone else. And thanks for all your replies. Oh and in the meantime, fly paper worked well! Lots of it!
  2. Well I put out two lots of vinegar of different sorts. Any not one fly jumped in there out of the 200 flies I would have hoped one would! I guess these are different flies. I just moved a spider into the bathroom, but he is just not hungry at the moment! Any more tips?
  3. I've just put two containers of vinegar in the bathroom. There were around 200 of the little dears in the bottom of the shower. I'm looking forwards to the result! (one just flew across computer screen.....!!! Grrr) Thanks for the tip
  4. Thanks for all your help. I'm always grateful of the input. Well firstly we definatly are on propane! Secondly the regulator was fitted new last year - we did hava a problem with the old one . And ... the bottle ARE upright! What we did discover in freezing desparation last night was that there seems to be a problem with the gas . ..... the bottle when we put a new one on seems to weigh unreasonably heavy (almost like concrete in there!) even compared And (embarrasingly) the bottle we thought had some in was actually empty. So when we put a new one one it worked fine and we're going to discuss the strange bottle of gas with our gas supplier.....
  5. Well what a mixture of replies... Where can I start! ....... I've tried tracing them down to stuff.... but can find nothing. Yep we have a holding tank..... I'm now dreading the thought of cleaning THAT out..... Maybe the flies will die tonight as our heating is now not working! But then again, they didn't die when we went away over Christmas. They merely had a great holiday too, and made more little flies..... I think I'll start on the plug hole Bar Fly that Water Rat mentioned. Hopefully that will be a start.....
  6. Thanks for all the replies. We ARE already on propane.... so anyone any ideas what the problem is?
  7. I seem to has some small and very annoying flies in the boat and I can't get rid of them. About the same size as fruit flies and living in the bathroom. Help! They won't go away no matter how much I clean, and they seem to hatch from no where.... Can anyone tell me what they are and how to get rid of them? Fly spray, fly papers, cleaning etc are not enough. About a hundred or so can sometime hatch out. I'm just killing them all the time! And slowly going crazy!
  8. HI, Maybe you could help? I've ended out spending another winter on the boat and once again, our gas bottles are suffering from the cold. The pressure seems to go to almost nothing when we are about one third left in the bottle, so that the cooker flame is almost nil and also the gas heating the same. (brRRRRR) We then switch over to the new bottle, but if the cold snap goes on we're left with part empty bottles and not enough storage to keep them til it gets warm again. Any tips?
  9. My huge herb and spice collection (100 plus post) narrowed down to about 5. Now I pick them fresh off the roof or elsewhere. My daily bath. My dance practice (I now hire a hall) I also have to wear a ridiculous ammount of woolly warm clothing. Several layers and hats in winter. My wardrobe. My gorgeous soft bed. My fast electric kettle. I also aquired lots of things. Mostly mud on my clothing. An itinerrant life style and the low opinion of some narrow minded others. A fantastic new job. And I live in a village where I could not afford to buy. But mostly I aquired cabin fever and claustrophobia. So I'm moving out and selling up! Guess what . I'm moving back into a house!
  10. Like Lesd I'd say it was really rare. I think that as the kitten grows it will be less likely to be stolen .... a full grown cat would just not take that treatment! Don't worry! I doubt they will show their faces again and they are a rarity. Yalla
  11. Thanks Brich and dor. Has anyone used ebay to sell and buy? What have been your experiences?
  12. Sounds great! but how much do they cost?
  13. Thanks for the reply and the PM Alnwick. I'll certainly follow up. I've talked to a trusted valuer today, he looked at a boat we were going to buy some years ago, and helped us out. Basically I think it's a case of tarting it up rather than renovating it from what he said. Out comes the paint pot!
  14. Yeah, I think when we bought ours, boats were holding their own in price. From what I've been told, they dropped around 20% then re gained 10%.... It's amazing to think that a 70ft in good condition could go for so little. Like you say it's all the poor economy I think. Everyone is wanting their money in the bank. And some, like me, have become to find it difficult to live aboard. I think if we had somewhere to go whilst we renovated I could stand it. But living aboard and renovating is just too much for me. I know some of you do it really well. But I have struggled with this! Maybe we would be better holding onto it and renovating whilst moving out , selling it when the market does improve. # I really appreciate all your comments. The more I'm hearing the more it begins to make better sense. Thanks!
  15. HI Alan, No worries! Thanks for your info. I'm going to go ahead and get a proper valuation, so that I can market it at a realistic price I think. It could be that we move out and renovate it before sale... not sure how much value it would add though. Any ideas?
