  1. Nope is the simple answer, consider an automatic watering system/pot because not much will thrive with no water for a month

  4. I loved the place, it's just so English run by volunteers who it appears are allowed almost free run to let their inner geeks out to play. A shed full of model trains a shed full of model ships a shed full of toys I am sure there was more geekery that I missed it is a lovely place All of the above of course meant with warmth and no derision Plus of course the whole code breaking history of the place was humbling
  5. never mind an engine that describes me to a T

  9. as it appens those barrows are superb well balanced and push really easy, at least the one i used was, better than many modern day B&Q versions, poorly balanced handles too short meaning your feet kick the legs, arggggggggggggggggg the only problem was the actual weight of the thing empty meant a small load, at least it did to me. mind you much respect to those women in the picture pushing that sort of load, would have been beyond me

  12. one of my more exciting holidays was to Poland, in the Feb after the Berlin wall came down an amazing mix of Awe at passing through Berlin at what was such an optimistic and wonderful time, plus massively long and drunken train journeys sharing our booze with our fellow travellers, being fined by scary female Polish train guards (i think the fines were for just being English ), staying in the most bizarre hostels, culminating in 1 day skiing (spending 1 day skiding on my arse down a hill at frighting speeds) and to top it off the return journey. fanbloodytastic
  13. the first night? Valium my sanity (what have i done, i know nothing about boats!!) someone who knew how boats work an instruction manual a kettle for the gas hob, my electric kettle didn't work, as i found out when my inverter went bang thank god for whisky and my inherent stubbornness

  20. I am with you on this, not to underplay what the RAF did at all but I don't think at that time there was ever a chance of getting a viable invasion force over the channel or reinforcing what did manage to get over. The royal navy was just too powerful
