  1. Agree, Looks like a dowel hole from the drawing, if you can poke a bit of wire in further than the joint face the dowel is missing.
  2. I doubt there will be any overheating problems but, and an important but, any combustion product leakage from head gasket, exhaust flanges or pipework will build up in the boat Your lungs, your call!
  3. Another impediment to starting in cold weather is the 3 to 20 turns ritual, the engine definitely gets 'stiffer' once the oil pressure is up a bit.
  4. Ours is the same, the push/pull handle shaft is 3/4 inch square for about 9 inches and runs through a plate support. A 1/8 inch cut out in the square shaft drops and locks the push/pull in neutral unless held up for normal forward/reverse operation.
  5. Check if the weed hatch 'anti cavitation' plate (if fitted) is still there.
  6. Noisy beasts! Pity the sound does not appear to work!
  7. My response was not aimed at you, thank you for your continued sensible support.
  8. I do not spend a lot of time on here and after 37 years in management my skin is almost bullet proof, Lol.
  9. I did not say that I felt threatened, I stated the letter appeared threatening. Quite frankly I'm amazed you posts are not jumped on more frequently
  10. I always appear awkward when dealing with poorly managed and/or dictatorial public authorities.
  11. Been there twice before, hence my stubborn stance on the issue.
  12. Does as far as I'm concerned as it seems to imply that my next 6 month licence will be subject to an additional £150 charge. As I've already spoken to CaRT expressing my concerns I'm sure they will write to confirm how they intend to address said concerns.
  13. Almost like a motor vehicle SORN declaration! I cannot recall filling one in for many years, I just ring up, confirm name, address and index number and give my debit card number.
  14. Nope, private yard, no licence required in the nine years I've been there. My sentiments exactly.
  15. Does that mean our boat cannot be skippered by either of our sons, (hypothetical at this stage they are not on the insurance)? Thank you.
  16. It is apparent you do not know the full circumstances surrounding the issue.
  17. I do not dislike CaRT but I sometimes find their efforts irritating. Your assumptions about me and my motives are incorrect but thanks anyway.
  18. My 'phone call was after their letter and I wished to speak to a manager to ensure that this issue was finally sorted out, I was assured it would be and I then requested that they put that in writing so there would be no further misunderstanding.
  19. Agree, the reminder is of great benefit to many people who might need reminding, does not apply in my (possibly) unusual case though. Your sound advice is noted
  20. If I were a barrack room lawyer I'm sure I would look into the justification for the late renewal charge of £150 and how it is calculated.
