  1. Twice. First time the top of Claydon on the Oxford, I stepped off the stern with a short rope! Second , bounced off the bow at Osney Lock. Very lucky.
  2. Graham hasn't given me instructions as to what to bring, so is there there something I can get from Lidl's tomorrow morning? Jane
  3. I am resurrecting this topic because Sab is.currently being advertised on the 'duck - we haven't seen or heard of John since the last Braunston Boat Show . . . Link to Apollo Duck
  4. I had a look at Boddington Reservoir today and it looks to be, if anything, at least as full as it was this time last year - this could mean that the lock usage restrictions introduced a fortnight ago are working. If this is the case then, by taking appropriate measure early enough, BW have avoided the need for more severe restrictions later in the year . . .
  5. We always enjoy it, and have always been allowed in at night as a moorer on the towpath. The entertainment sometimes leaves a lot to be desired but is always part of the experience. We are going again this year hopefully by boat.
  6. I agree - we are fortunate in that we have around two inches of insulation all round - probably a major contributory factor in eliminating condensation. Our new top hatch covers are lined with two layers of marine ply and the light prism is insulated from the surrounding steel - we expected to get the occasional drip from condensate on the prism but it remains nice and dry even last night when it was below zero outside.

  9. Our cat had the same experience! Must be some interesting locals in Limehouse. He got seasick going up the Thames from there as well.
  10. Smell the poo? Add more bloo. P.s. We wipe a drop of olive oil around the seal after emptying and cleaning. I agree
  11. Has anyone identified the location yet?
  12. The opening sequence was definitely scary . . .
  13. I plan to be there and will provide sauté potatoes
  14. I think I preferred anticlockwise from the rugby area. Where are you starting from?
  15. I bet the same group will have their sights on farmers field and EOG moorings too.

  17. That is a good idea! Shoes are one of the many products that can be hand made, locally, by small firms and co-operatives. Nevertheless, there are things that we may always need to import - for example, tea and coffee - so buying British when we can helps to maintain an even balance.
  18. There are a few small communities that probably won't want to move into a Marina and at the moment it is possible to be on your own on several reaches of the canal. To be honest I don't think that linear moorings are a problem on the upper reaches of the southern section of the Oxford.
  19. During the holiday weeks there can be upto 5 boats queing for the locks down into Banbury and then again on their way back to Napton a week or so later, I like to see people enjoying their holidays but if there are another 25 boats trying to move surely it is not going to be so much fun. I do think that the village and it's businesses can only be improved by such an enterprise, but will the current Oxford Canal users be so happy?
  20. There are plans for a 249 berth Marina at Cropredy. We are worried about the effect this will have on the village, the online moorers ( ourselves included) and the stretch of Oxford Canal between Napton and Oxford. Does anybody have any experience of what this will mean?
  21. I am sure that Graham (Alnwick) will agree with this - having just been made redundant by an Agenda 21 enterprise! Graham seems to have formed the view that in the present economic climate these sustainable living projects are only 'sustainable' when they are subsidised by the rest of the community who are, apparently, living unsustainable lives
