  1. You are right. Even when we moored in that area (4 yrs ago in Marina) it was chocka with static caravans, sorry moored boats. Actually, in retrospect, the touring /static caravan analogy seems similar. The Caravan Club and similar organisations can authorise small 5 pitch sites for touring vans staying no more than 14 days. There are also "no return within x days" rules too. . But to put a long term static van on a site requires more planning permission.
  2. What a lot of bull. CRT are not against CCers. They are against non compliant boats and piss takers using the canal as a statuc housing estate. If a boat and user does not comply with the law, then action should be taken. People cannot choose which law to obey and which not to. Well, they can but must then expect enforcement action. Now a debate over whether CRT guidelines are legal or not is another matter which only the courts can decide.
  3. If no more serious rain then prob tomorrow or maybe Sat.

  5. Assuming your boat is Dream Daisy, you came through my lock last week. I am glad you took the advice of my colleague at Cromwell. I did not believe at the time your boat and equipment were suitable for your voyage, not meeting some requirements. I have tried to PM you but you do not have sufficient posts to receive pms. So take care.

  11. If you started above Newark would would have passed through my work place, Nether Lock! What is yr boat called?
  12. Bear in mind the EA has no interest in navigation. Their level stations are only in respect of flooding and water management. Whereas CRTs information is aimed mainly at boaters, and reports "boatability" rather than just level. Another method if on the larger rivers with manned locks is to ring the lock keeper. He will normally have an idea about both levels and safety.

  18. When we bought ours used in 2009 the first owner had had made clip on covers for both side hatches, both pigeon boxes and rear doors. They are very useful in winter when boat is not used keeping out rain. We use the pigeon box covers in winter to stop rain dripping around the ids onto us in bed below
