  7. As a gentleman I couldn't possibly say. I do believe she was based on Cleo Rocos (sp) so o am sure you could find some more info. 8. Pete ... could you let me know the source. Also can you let me know what material you are using? Ta. Paul The lady in the picture is Carla. Captain Kremmen's faithfull companion. ;-) Paul
  9. As I was living aboard last year I thought I might try the film from Wilkinson and also use some double wall 10mm polycarbonate sheet on remaining windows. I chose to use magnetic tape to fix. DON'T. The glue cant take the cold and the holding power is stretched to its limits. The most user friendly options is the film IMHO. Paul Ps Would use polycarbonate sheets if I could work a good holding solution.
  10. Thanks for the answers. Thought I would give it a shot. I will just have to be patient until I can move back on board. Paul
  11. Thanks matty. I had a look at the website and the cost for my 58 foot would be more than where I am. Although that might be good if it's friendly. Does anyone have experience here? Depending on the owners it looks likely that riparian water wouldn't need annual licence . I use explorer licence for my odd days out until I move back aboard. Paul
  12. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations regarding a friendly marina or moooring within 30 or so miles of Bracknell , Berkshire? Budget around £2.5k. Thanks Paul
  13. On my rear door and kitchen hatch there are a couple of decent blocks of wood attatched. I have recently been toying with the idea of getting some carving done. I have seen some nice examples but just as I thought I would ask if anyone knows of a wood carver in the Newbury vicinity I came upon some tiles in a gift shop at the end on a nice ride out to Bourton on the water, The colours were stunning and I am torn. So does anyone know of shop selling these tiles or similar OR a wood carver? Paul
  14. No insects for 15km . What will the fish eat? What will the fishermen catch if they die? Quite nasty. http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/2013/kennet-pollution-hunt-for-culprit Paul
  15. Whilst I am pleased that everyone is scrutinising C&rt I would like to try and ask that you give volunteers a chance. I am sure that wherever you might volunteer the arrangements will be better there are some organisations that don't turn away people just because they are inconsiderate enough to want to work at times and places that are inconvenient to them. As with everything some people will be better at it than others. Have a good summer and chillax. Paul
  16. I find loads of areas on the K&A where I can get internet but no phone signal. Try skype or an instant messaging service such as facebook messenger or What's App. Paul
  17. Ok WJM. I give you that location. However I raise you the Lock house gardens overlooking the wier on the magnificent Thames. . ;-) Paul

  20. If kids do GCSE then loads have finished. Sorry. Paul
  21. +1 on the life jacket over the coat. My summer job provider (EA bless them ) seem to provide crewsaver 150N jackets to all their lockie' s . Safety advice is to get straps that go between your legs ( ouch) so the jacket doesn't work its way over your head but few wear these straps. During my walking on water ( sorry working on water ) training we jumped into a swimming pool to see the impact that an inflating jacket has. It goes off with a hell of a bang and although buoyant does restrict your maneuverability. Ensure you get spare gas cylinders , actuator mechanism etc. Paul

  23. I find that going through manned Thames lock don't require long ropes and yes technically the byelaws need a bow and stern rope. As I went single handed ob tha K&A I neede a longer centre rope ( especially for the turf sided locks ) Paul
  24. Yup. That's the one. Next time I will. Paul
