  1. I personally don't think it will be easy to continue your education if you have to move every 14 days. Can't your father wait another two years till you go to university? We left our 20yr old in our house with a couple of lodgers whilst we went off boating as CCers. She found it difficult even then. Once the house has gone there is no going back costs don't allow it. We did have our youngest living on the boat with us for awhile. She had to phone up before she left work to find out where we were and then work out how to reach us. Luckily this was a very short stop gap till she got other accommodation. Good luck whatever he decides. Sue
  2. Congratulations you are not alone. Some of us think like you do. Sue
  3. Not a clue but you could try your local IWA branch. They are supposed to work for the canal system.
  4. Not exactly walking but I have taken part in several canal camps. My eldest daughter met her husband there. Lots of fond memories. Have you tried the Cornish rum? Sue
  5. It is impossible to moor at Gayton junction due to the number of long term bW moorings. Sue

  7. You don't need 240 v to run a laptop. Mine runs on 19v with a gizmo from Maplins. Sue

I have seen zip up toweling bags for dogs used succesfully. Leave dog in bag for awhile and it comes out clean & dry. In my opinion it is better to have the galley at the back. Mud from the towpath and wet clothes will otherwise end up in your bedroom. BW provide free showers around the system for bathing dogs Sue
  9. Go for an inverter rather than a generator. Running the engine annoys the neighbours. If you have a mooring you will probably have 240v electricity. You will find getting a wide beam residential mooring difficult. Wide beam boats are usually the same height as narrow boats otherwise they won't get through the bridges. There are wide beam hire boats around so you can try ot how about a house boat. Sue
  10. If we see you on a water point we will turn the water off and bash on the side of the boat. Why have a bath then shower in it? A shower tray is much more convenient. Sue
  11. Just found out that Baddiley locks are closed till 7th March. That has completely mucked up our plans as we were heading for the Montgomery. Does anyone know why the plans were changed? With Yard Lock at Stone closed and the Audlem flight closed our cruising is limited. Fed up Sue
  12. A policeman friend thought it was impossible to find anyone living on a boat! Sue
  13. And get a carbon monoxide alarm to be sure it's worked. Sue

  16. Any chance of putting it on the NABO fault reporting web site? BW check that site for reported problems. Sue

  18. Formal complaint - maladministation Sue
  19. I think you can have any gas fridge. I am looking for a decent size one. Mine broke after 15yrs plus the time the previous owner had it. Sue
  20. We had one 15yrs ago. It produced little power, was heavy to put up and down. It was quiet but as we move alot it was more trouble than it was worth. We couldn't use it when moving. Sue
  21. Happy Christmas Eugene. You just get confirmation that you are well out of it now and again. Sue
  22. Cor! Do you believe what you read on the internet? Sue
  23. Talking to one BW worker, he told me that he was unable to do a lot of maintenance because he hadn't got up to date certificates. These are needed to work everything including power drills. BW can't afford to send him on courses and suggested he paid for his own. Guess his reply. Sue
  24. And a large water tank unless you are moored next to a tap permantly Sue
