  1. I'm having the same trouble now. Smashed the glass out (it was cracked), hoping it would help loosen the screws, but still stuck. I just need to find out what a mole grip is now!
  2. Not sure about your gas question, but we get our wood from the local farm shop (near Marsworth, GU South), and there's a few other places around here that I know of too. It's ready seasoned and burns well, £3.80 a bag, we get through 3 bags a week mid winter.
  3. Our Calorifier takes up quite a bit of valuable space in the bathroom. So when we refitted the bathroom, we considered taking the calorifier out (since we didn't really use it). Luckilly we decided against it. A few weeks later, the Paloma gas water heater packed in, and we were waiting a good few winter months to get it fixed. The calorifier served us well then. The water never got 'hot', but a luke warm shower is a lot better than an icy cold one on a chilly morning. It's a gravity fed back-boiler on a squirrel also running 2 radiators - which do get nice and hot. The bleed valve on top of the cal needs bleeding about every fortnight when in use. Has been really handy.

  5. I've met quite a few Christians that fit that bill too. And Tories. And sports fans. And actually, most groups who choose to organise themselves into strange little cliques.
  6. I came accross this website: http://mikegyver.com/IdeasnProducts/airline-car/index.html and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of running a laptop / macbook off 12V? Thanks neil

  8. Thanks for all your replies. I've got some good ideas now. I'll let you know what works. Any ideas how soon I can start?
  9. Hello We had some nice onions last year (even thought a duck made a nest among them for most of the summer), and some good lettuce. But I was hoping to get a bit more adventurous this year, with a roof full of productive tubs and boxes. My main questions are: 1. What to plant 2. When 3. In what 4. How to look after them Personally, I'll be opting for organic and peat free, but any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks neil.

  11. Beez Neez was here at Pitstone Wharf recently being repainted by the new painting business here - Carnzu - which is VERY good by the way, seen some lovely boats coming out. I don't really know the owners of Beez Neez, but they used to have arts and crafts for sale at the White Lion in Marsworth before it changed hands about 6 months ago. neil.
  12. Hi All Thanks for the input. I'm trying to stay objective on this one, as I'm finding it difficult to find any hard evidence either way. I think personal encounters can be misleading, as this doesn't prove any medium to long term adverse effects. Does anybody on here have any experience of working with waterfowl, or have any links to reputable sources? The only ones I can find through Google are: http://www.liveducks.com/bread.html http://www.bournestreampartnership.org.uk/ponds.htm#Feeding http://www.kidsturncentral.com/topics/animals/ducks.htm http://www.gedling.gov.uk/index/ac-home/ac...ews-article.htm? newsid=20581 http://forums.rspb.org.uk/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1574 http://www.ipswich.gov.uk/Angle/Help+Our+Ducks.htm
  13. I think it probably has something to do with Ducks tasting so good. I had wondered the same thing this morning, so did some Googling. Apparently, dead ducks get snapped up so quickly by foxes and other predators that we never get to see them floating past our gunwales. Luckily. I had no idea about all this until I did some Google searches about what's best to feed them. I came across lots of very convincing websites, and the general consensus was that the answer is absolutely nothing.
  14. I have heard that feeding ducks bread or other human food is really bad, I'd like to know your opinions on this. I heard that bread has very little nutritional value for ducks, that it fills them up (like junk food) and deters them from eating the healthy natural foods, such as aquatic plants and invertebrates, that they need. It causes heart disease and liver problems, unnatural aggression, and sluggishness impeding flight and their ability to migrate or escape predators. Please let me know if you agree with this. Thanks neil.
  15. Only my experience, but I hardly ever get reception with T-Mobile. Richard has exactly the same phone (Nokia 6300), but is on O2 and never has a problem. On the boat, I get no reception, and he gets full. I'd love to switch, but no other company will have me because Experian (credit checking fascists) says I'm 'of no fixed abode'. neil.
