  1. My neighbour has done without one for 10 years, saving space hes using a sureflo 3bar. so what use are they then? My neighbour thinks they are are a bit of useless garbage!!
  2. My water pump has just started to come on for a short burst every half hour or so, I can't find any leaks and no dripping taps anywhere. Its a Sureflo pump about 4 years old, any ideas please?
  3. Try Butts of Leicester we got a 30% discount by saying we wanted the Pete Nash deal another way of getting a cheap deal was by getting a big order in that time we delt direct with Siemens. It is definatly advisable to get a regulator as you don't want to cook your batteries. Pete used his pannels on a 24volt system and they worked fine, We found them very helpful,AB Butt, Frog Island, Leicester. Tel 0116 251 3344 and on the internet its under the accessories page, Good luck, Wendy
  4. I've just been offered to swap my Squirrel non boiler for a Epping Range, he wants to be able to see the flames, not sure what to do as I miss my Rayburn (alot bigger) Any thoughts on this?
  5. I bought a 1950's Rayburn from a reclamation yard for £200 for my old boat about 6 years ago. Luckily someone was getting a boat craned in round the corner and they lifted it in through the side hatch for free. It cooks the best food ever, much better than gas or lecky. Unfortunatly when I moved boats I could not get the rayburn out. I miss it alot
  6. My neighbours clubbed together earlier this year and bought 10 Elecsol (spelling) 110 amp hour batteries for around £80 each. at the time I couldnt afford them so ended up buying cheapos I'm now regretting this decision big time. As liveaboards I had been using elecsol batteries for the last 10 years and they kept up fine with my solar pannels (4) but the cheap ones are useless infact I wonder if I have a dud amongst the three, because they are sealed as well I dont know how to check but I never had to run my engine for around 10 hours a day before just to run a laptop, fridge, 2 low voltage lights, pump and tv Next time I'm going to save up and get the carbon fibre ones unless we get lecky put in
  7. Hello and welcome to the forum As it will be during winter stoppage time that you get your boat, it may be an idea to see if there are any 14 day moorings near to your house as they are used as winter moorings till the 31st March and in that time you may be lucky and find yourself a permenant mooring. Good luck, Wendy
  8. I hate to say this but Acme was a character boat around Oxford for years I've got a photo of her from the 80's but since someone got her stretched a couple of years ago the character dissapeared instantly, its such a shame. I don't think I have ever seen a boat like her
  9. NABO AGM atarts at 10.30am but 12noon is going to be when the interesting part starts
  10. Our mooring is recognised as a residential site (just outside Oxford) but we will see what a mooring here that has just today become vacant will become advertised as, I bet they put "leisure mooring" on the advert Then I supose we will have a fight on our hands. Regarding Hythe Bridge Arm, they are fighting BW at the moment as they are trying to take away their right to sell boat with mooring
  11. Going back to my main point though, How can they justify leaving a mooring empty for 9 months before stopping the waiting list
  12. Two people that I know that have bought Dutch Barges in Holland and bought them over here, one on a ferry and one sailed across, both had repairs done over there as it was cheaper than here.
  13. How do they get the cloth and the money into the coconut without it then sinking

    Inverters

I'e got a non pure sw 600watt inverter and the only thing it would not run was my cordless drill charger, so I brought a small psw inverter for that.
  15. but don't you think its bad that BW kept a mooring unlet for 9 months before the waiting list was stopped in May?
  16. I am pretty sure that BW will not let a mooring go for the start price, I think they are more likely to close a site and turn it into 14 day moorings if it does not reach a good price, its only a 3 boat size mooring.

    Eco Fans

    Why are they so expensive?
  18. A friend of ours was no1 on the waiting list for that mooring, little did he know that all the time he was doing the continuous cruising bit he could of been settled on a mooring, ( if they hadn't been holding it back) He is so fed up now as there is no way he could afford to bid for it, hes put his boat up for sale
  19. A 20m mooring round the corner from us has just gone up for tender, (Thrupp Road, Gunpowder Wharf, South Oxford) anyway that mooring has been vacant since summer 2006 when the people that had the mooring went to the IWA Pangbourne Fest and moved to a mooring in Thrupp itself when they got back. on the tendering site it says "in May 2007 there were 22 people on the waiting list for a mooring at Gunpowder Wharf" Why was it not allocated to one of those 22 people wanting a mooring there instead of keeping it vacant for 9 months before the waiting list was stopped in May this year? It all seems very wrong to me. If something like this has happened in your area could you please contact, Simon Robbins at moorings.07@nabo.org.uk Thanks Wendy
  20. I think you must of had tooooo much to drink last night, You would be absolutly welcome on our moorings. Like everyone else is saying GO FOR IT, Good luck, Wendy
  21. Has anyone yet had dealings with the newish development manager for BW Aiden Johnson-Higill? They are about to put in planning application for land ajacent to our moorings and this guy is the one we will have to deal with, he has said that our moorings are going to be enhanced within the development but is he to be trusted or is it down to him at all to say that?
  22. I don't like mooring in Camden, Little Venice visitor moorings are ok, or by Sainsburys, Kensal Green is fine and handy for shopping
  23. Hello and hope you enjoy the discussions. Wendy
