  1. I'd have thought 1.5" would be plenty. You can get cheap bed bases from Ikea (the wooden slatted bed bases) probably cheaper than making yourself.
  2. Try not to fall over when you find out the price of a new panel! My hour counter doesn't display as mentioned above, but the tacho's still working!
  3. No, this is a single mooring after the tunnel height measuring hoop, I think the mooring belongs to the trust, but theres no private mooring at that spot.

  7. How long is your boat? I'm happy for you to breast up with my boat which is perm. moored there. My boat is only 45ft though.
  8. Sounds like he didn't pay anything for them either!
  9. Ah, thats the stuff I used, works fine, just brought a single sheet and cut it up.
  10. I'm interested in building this sort of thing into my route recording website (www.waterexplorer.co.uk), give me a PM if you want to chat about it. Stu.
  11. I went past last year and noticed that half of the water had been filled in, but a couple of weeks ago, the whole lot had gone right back to the canal main line. Thanks, My link Love the comment on the councils decision "would not materially harm the character or appearance of the area" - ah well!
  12. Yes, thats the one. Don't see any plans submitted to the council planning site either.. http://webcaps.sandwell.gov.uk/PublicAccess/default.aspx Either way, the damage is done now, and the entire arm is now in-filled.
  13. Has anyone else noticed that a transport company in Oldbury (West Mids) has infilled an arm/basin on the BCN old main line? Map Linky If you look at the map link above, the 4 boats in red and the large shed are now gone, along with the water, which has had several hundred tons of hardcore dumped into it! How have they managed to get away with this ? (The area is next to the A&D aquatics store if anyone is familar with the area)
  14. Not sure if this would be covered under the BSS as its an oil pipe, but will your new pipe need to be BS standard marked fuel hose ?

    Trim

If the gearbox was swapped, I bet it was a simple as the old box was a 2:1 and the new one is 3:1, so the prop's not turning as fast as it once was. Additionally, are you sure the prop is not slipping in the gearbox coupling - or the gearbox itself isn't slipping ?
  16. I'm impressed, you've sorted out all the technical support issues by yourselves! Glad your getting on fine with it - the next version is a major re-write (which is why theres not been many updates lately). Don't forget that the realtime web-update data is lost as soon as you stop - if you want to record the journey, click YES on the "Upload Journey" question when you click "Stop" at the end of the day. The software takes a snapshot every 3 minutes (hard coded at the moment) and tries to upload these every 10-20 minutes dependant upon you having an internet 3g signal. If theres no signal, it will buffer up the positions until a 3g signal becomes available. The settings pages are greyed out when you are recording a journey, so only change these when you stop. Cutting corners is not allowed on the canal, stick to the racing line :-)
  17. I'd replace them both, just to be on the safe side.
  18. How rigid is the flue pipe fixed to the stove and the roof liner/hole ? The flue pipe could have expanded/contracted and lifted the stove up if the pipe is fixed rigidly to the roof for instance. Does the stove look alright? No warped or distorted sides - are the firebricks still there / not cracked ?

  20. Those are the ones, although if your not 100% sure that your existing alternator is on its last legs, best to get an expert to help before shedding £60 on a new one! I'm no expert by the way!!
  21. Theres not many people who fully understand Batt's and their charging ! Think the best advise you've had so far is... 1. Replace your alternator with a cheap A127 model - look on ebay, should be easy enough to swap over if your okay with a spanner. 2. Make sure you charge your batterys longer - several hours at a time, go for a cruise. 3. Don't get to paranoid over voltage readings, they are not the whole story - don't forget that batterys are disposable/replaceable items (although expensive!) and they do die !
  22. This one looks good... http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Electrical/Crimp+Terminals/Heavy+Duty+Semi+Ratchet+Crimping+Tool/d190/sd2712/p42429
  23. Or you could look to double up your 4mm if you have a large reel!
  24. I've just been trialling the "t-mobile wireless pointer" http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-broadband/wireless-pointer/ £59.99 + £10 top up on pay as you go, or free on contract. It has a socket on the side for an external aerial.
