  1. Why is everyone looking at me? Oh, don't, it was not me in another guise! Mad Harold has not showed up yet. I've had bikes nicked, it very annoying especially if you are miles away from home when they go. I'd put the scroats on the chain gang.
  2. It is a Beta and he has been cleaning out around it. Stood on the multiplug or pulled it?
  3. Is it floating? If yes. there is your answer, You were happy to pay the licence fee for the year, its not CRT's fault that we have a worldwide pandemic, why should they refund you anything? We were locked in for most of a year due to a stoppage, never even considered asking for a refund. Not being unpleasant but I do find your question unreasonable.
  4. As the cast iron collars were made originally as a heat sink for timber topped boats, I cut a wooden wedge to level up the collar. Never had one char. Just my experience.

  6. Its 70 feet long, painted red all over. There is a rack of gutting knives in the cratch, a couple of shot guns in the back hatches. Oh, and you can't miss it, there are 4 huge German shepherd dogs chained to the bollards. Don't have any food in your pockets when you call, they haven't been fed for a couple of days. Anytime you like, no need to ring first, always ready and able.
  7. Spoil sport. Ladies get lonely too you know!?
  8. If it smells of eggs, its toxic and a cooked battery.

  11. I used it when fitting Houdinis, it came with the hatches. Its very messy, ultra sticky and stringy. It takes years to set so you have to be careful tightening down to avoid squeezing it all out everywhere. Having said all that, it does not leak so suppose its good.
  12. I shy away from rivets, prefer stainless machine screws into tapped holes. I find pulling rivets compresses the seal too much locally, screws can be progressively tightened.
  13. An obvious external lock = obviously no one at home in the boat. [ Unless stupidly the occupier leaves his escape locked when aboard ]
  14. I noticed that David asked for costS, not the historical cost that Mike posted which is why I listed the costs. Most of the costs will be affected greatly by where you moor or if you continually cruise. Many will depend on the size, age and condition of your boat. Maintenance costs will depend on your ability to do your own repairs. I missed off the list surveyors fees for the hull insurance on an older boat, and possible RCR membership for breakdowns. Periodic blacking will involve taking the boat out of the water, i.e. docking. Post details of the boat, age, condition etc, how you intend to use the boat, whether you live onboard and what you can fix yourself and you will get a better idea. You will eventually have to work out your own costs based on the above, then add £1000 a year at least for contingencies.
  15. So? Lets start them off with the right advice then, always do a search first. You post was uncalled for, are you Forum Police? Or just an attention seeker with nothing better to do? I have been helpful to the OP. TD'
  16. Quite calm, its lunch time and we still have food! Its lazy just to post and not seek the past posts on a popular topic. Not annoyed at all but I felt that a small rebuke was in order. After all, we all have better things to do don't we? Er, perhaps not then. Expenses list. Licence, Insurance, Boat Safety Certificate, Council Tax, Engine etc. Maintenance, Blacking, Painting, Depreciation, Mooring fees, WiFi, Heating, Fuels, diesel, gas, Pump out, waste disposal, Water, Electricity, TV licence, And so on, its not cheap living any more.
  17. Oh for heavens sake, just do a search on here, there are a multitude of the same questions and the answers. The wheel was invented long ago...................................
  18. Many years ago we had Minies that leaked oil from new. BL solution under warranty was to degrease and paint the engine/gearbox. Surprisingly it stopped the leaks.
  19. Apologies, engine revs into 2 to 1 gearbox. So 350 prop rpm.
  20. 18 X 10.5 Crowther high efficiency with a larger blade area, cruises at 700 rpm aprox 3 mph with a 30" draught on 50 ft hull. If it helps.
