  5. You are right of course Mike , its just that the rest of the Boat is relatively tidy and this Front Deck just detracts from it . How come the Plutocracy that own these Hudsons don't have similar issues ? " Its paint Mike but not as we know it "

  10. I must admit that having a 70foot is great for space , the only drawback I have found is that it can be difficult to moor in some locations , especially in the built up areas

  12. Funny enough I have been consuming some of your excellent Suffolk Beer , Adnams , does it get any better ? Don't we have a Beer Thread on here ?

  14. Good Forecast for most of next week in the South East , some sections of the Towpath in an appalling state , what is it with these cyclists ?
  15. Well its slowly getting round to that time of year when I will be able to do a little Boat Painting , I have the Front Well Deck to do and the Rear Sliding Hatch . My Boat is a Tug Style and my Main Entrance is through the Front Deck , over the years I have struggled to keep the Raddle Red on the Front Deck for any length of time and I have been considering placing some rubber matting on top when I next repaint , the trouble of course is that dirt and moisture will no doubt become trapped and it will turn out to be a futile exercise , does anyone have any thoughts ?
  16. I am going to head back to the Boat later , I have Four Bags of Excel Coal on the Front Deck and I am wondering if I have over ordered , nothing worse than cruising during the Summer with bags of unused coal on the deck . Apologies Moomin Papa I failed to notice you said the same thing earlier
  17. I suppose his fellow drinkers must be cursing themselves that they didn't see John home safely , hindsight now of course
  18. This is what I was thinking too Bod , does the amount of money invested have any effect on the Performance or lack thereof ? " We woz all robbed "
  19. I wonder if I could ask for some advice or thoughts on the following , I recently won an Ebay Auction for a new Hand Operated Klaxon Horn . Although a couple of Decades old , the item an RS Components Product came Boxed with Papers and attached to a mounting bracket , I am minded to mount it on the rear sliding hatch perhaps with wing nuts to allow removal thus preventing theft . An issue which comes to mind is the plugging of the holes when the Horn is removed especially in the winter when the Boat is moored , anyone any thoughts ? thanks in advance .
  20. I see he has one advertised on Ebay just now for £120k , I spotted it earlier today . I don't know about Breaking the Law , I certainly wouldn't have thought any Law was being broken ? I honestly don't think CRT know the half of what is going on and in many respects I have lost faith in them a long time ago , I don't want to start any rant because I have never had a bad experience with either BW or CRT , its just Managerially sometimes you wonder
  21. I have come across two Amber Boats both at the time Brand New , the finish on both especially the Carpentry was in my humble opinion pretty exceptional . As far as I remember they were constructed in Gdansk which is a centre of Shipbuilding and Heavy Engineering in Poland , I believe either Amber or the Importer went into Liquidation
  22. I think I agree with you Brian and its not just a question of Money , more and more People are now choosing these Widebeams in order that they can simply replicate their life ashore with an effective " floating country cottage " , the GU South is simply awash with them . Cruising last year I encountered one which was home to three separate cars , another a chap was making a living by purchasing " sailaway shells " from Collingwood fitting them out on the water and as soon as one is complete he simply moves onto the next . I don't believe the GU is where they belong and I think the CRT simply see them as another Revenue Stream . What interests me most is that in the main Widebeams are purchased by those with a " Few Quid " I wonder if they will prove to have a Louder Voice than the rest of us , judging by this increase it would appear not .
  23. I remember you Mooring there Sir some years back and of course I remember the Mooring Warden also . I wonder how much longer those Moorings will be with us as Travis Perkins on the other side of the Fence are Relocating , Canal Side Executive Housing will no doubt follow .
