  4. I wonder if the Portsmouth & Arundel canal junction at Hunston could be considered end on as the Birdham to Chichester section was built as a ship canal with totally different dimensions to the Hunston to Ford section.
  5. If we start to throw in Irish canals: Coalisland canal/Dukarts canal. -------------------------------------------- Coalport canal/Donnington Wood canal. Forth & Clyde canal/Monkland canal.
  6. Wey & Arun Junction Canal joined the Arun Navigation end on at Newbridge near Billingshurst in Sussex. Thames & Severn Canal joined the Stroudwater Navigation at Wallbridge. Pidcocks canal joined the Lydney canal. Montgomeryshire canal joined the Ellesmere Canal at Llanymynech. Westport canal joined the Parret Navigation. Godalming Navigation joins the Wey Navigation. Aylesham Navigation joined the River Bure near Coltishall. North Walsham & Dilham Canal joined the River Ant. I'll find a few more.
  7. My first time on the canals was a Swan Line hire boat in the late 70's I'll try and find the photos, it had a very unreliable Yanmar diesel engine that wouldn't start on cold mornings, until a kindly boater came along and held a lighter next to the air intake.
  8. CRT do have some nice drawings, I was lucky enough to have the original drawings for Watford locks on loan for a while but they had to go back eventually.
  9. it's worth going to look at other canal remains in the area, such the Pembrey canal, Kidwelly & Llanelli canal, Lord Ashburnams canal and Burry Port
  10. A lot of this can be traced on old OS maps, nice to see some of it still exists, route of Smiths canal on canalmaponline.
  11. No one going to club together and buy it then ?
  12. Now we're getting silly, if your not careful I'll bring out the comfy chair.
  13. It's a Triumph because that's what Steve McQueen wanted.
  14. I'm watching in the background It's a lot of fun but we had to dismount the barrels from our field guns and make naval gun trails for them so that we could haul in and out with the ropes.
  15. Now let me go find my powder and musket, I know where the sword is. For those of you joking about pirates I really have fired a black powder cannon from a sailing ship, & repelled boarders it was quite a lark for the Whitehaven festival a few years back but very loud when the Grand Turk fired a broadside at us.
  16. Thanks for the welcome folks. As the Blackburn buccaneer was built to carry nuclear weapons I can come in a blast any naughty posters into oblivion. ?
  17. All of East Anglia now updated unless anyone spots any mistakes that I need to fix, now for the BCN.
  18. This one is the canal basin, also in the Tullie house museum.
  19. I like this one, Early Morning; Carlisle from the canal.
  20. What ever the perspective it's a nice picture.
  21. After I finish waterways in the east, there won't be any updates to the map for sometime unless anyones spots errors that need fixing, as we have had comments about it I'm going to do the BCN which as everyone can imagine is going to take me a while. Reg do the middle levels look right to you now?
