  1. I have to admit to watching quite a lot of these. They are all very different..... my favs are: Narrowboat Will - he's mad as a box of frogs but is a lovely guy who helps any boater out on the engineering front as he passes.... Ben and Emily - they are a nice 'hippy' couple travelling around - just got a 2nd small boat to do up. Got a female cat called .... Alan! Cruising the Cut - Makes top notch quality videos although more advertising is creeping in. The Rum Wench/The Pirate Boat - Heidi is a single female running a pirate themed boat - likes rum! The mindful narrowboat - probably my favourite, Vanessa is a nature lover who gets great shots - does rhymes and draws her findings... very talented lady The Nomadic Crobot - these two zany people will annoy most on here but i find them amusing! This type of TV will replace conventional TV over time and advertisers have cotton onto it by giving products to youtubers go give reviews (oddly enough they all give positive reviews!). This must be saving the manufacturers a fortune in advertising!
  2. Thanks everyone, so its really just personal preference....... we shall ponder some more!

  6. nothing, lovely marina but we've now done everything we wanted to do and now need the boat closer some older relatives...
  7. Hi All Thinking way ahead here - we will be moving down from Tattenhall to Droitwich Spa marina end of March/early April. Canalplan guided me entirely on canals - i was surprised as thought it would use the Severn, but this got me thinking.... why? Canalplans route is 87 miles/104 locks/49hrs using canals only... other route is 91 miles/91 locks/49hrs using severn.... so, is there a logical reason for the canal only route, maybe in case of flood etc? which would you do/recommend?

  10. Surecal Immersion Heater 27" 1kw 240V | Midland Chandlers ?
  11. do this old tests work with the current variant?
  12. I've given up fighting the wind since i went to fill up in our marina one day and got pinned to the bank for half a day!
  13. We had a few on the syndicate who liked to spend their time varnishing everything in sight and then complaining about it...

  15. The Cerbo GX is a great bit of kit and surprisingly simple! It connects to your onboard network/WiFi and allows remote management. All the other Victron kit you may have now or in the future connects to it (cable or bluetooth) to add to your management and monitoring (solar/battery monitors etc etc)... if the budget is ok then its certainly worth it and can grow with your requirements. There are cheaper ways to do all this but Victron kit just works and is very easy to use/setup. Victron provide the free web access to all your devices - no subscriptions etc.
  16. I've turned my snow off, but its still settling at the bottom of the page - i've got magic snow!
  17. on these wouldn't the wear be all over it fairly even as the rope goes up/down as the horse moves closer/away rather than district narrow strips ?
  18. Neither of these bits of kit are designed for running off 12v - they are home devices that happen to have mains->12v adapter plugs, so i assumed this would meant they needed 12v regulation to be safe if running off fluctuating 12v..
  19. This is all now done. Works really well but had an interesting thing occur - well interesting for me, so here goes! The regulator connects to the boat via a cigarette lighter plug (you see where this is going!). We were watching TV and at random times the Roku would freeze/reboot. it seemed to coincide with adverts so just thought dodgy stream.... anyway it got worse and then wouldn't even load Netflix... interesting..... I measured the voltage going into the regulator and it was 2.4v! - voltage out was still 12.4v so looked further... The fuse then blew... looked at the Cigarette lighter and it was hot to touch - obviously crap connection causing drop in voltage hence increased current and blown fuse (said confidently - im assuming this is correct as it makes sense!). Cooled it, cleaned it and did a twisty thing when putting it back in and its fine - input to regulator now normal...... i hear regularly these plugs are rubbish and now have first hand knowledge of that!
  20. Hi! I dont have any experience of Carefree (although we do have one of their old boats!), but when we had a share it was with BCBM https://www.bcbm.co.uk/ and they were pretty good. It all hinges on who else is in the syndicate with you regardless of the company!
